I really don't get the issue peeps are having with this?

I fresh installed 1607 today, and the system installed, what it thought were, latest drivers.

Headed to device manager to update manually to the 7874 set (I prefer sound quality of this set), pointed to update folder, and drivers updated OK.

I then installed SSII from the folder in driver set downloaded from ASUS support, Everything works just fine. SSII opens and works running manually, and also does so from within Sound Manager.

    Win10 x64 - HERO Alpha board.

Didn't Try your method yet, but I will do so and report back.

But currently, the SS2 used to work flawlesly before the RedStone Windows update. After the Update the App just stopped launching.
So, I know for sure that RedStone1 Windows Update has changed how driver installation works in windows and the need of driver signing.

I have tried the Realtek Driver Version: V6.0.1.7829
Also I have tried the Realtek Driver Version: 6.0.1.7848
    Non works regarding the SS2.

the App Sonic Radar Works normally for your Info.

If you do a fresh install of 1607 the latest download on asus.com works for the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, just did this myself.

As for the anniversary update, you will find several drivers might revert to their defaults also. For example, the cause of my reinstall was Rapid Storage Technology. Before the update, I had 14.8 installed. I noticed after the update SATA drives were running off the "standard SATA AHCI controller" provided by Windows. Intel RST was still installed but the console would not open. I even uninstalled it, reinstalled and it would not open. Did the fresh install and it installs and opens fine.

If you read my comments from the past, you will find I am generally pretty loyal to MS. Unfortunately, Microsoft seems to be making some bad misteps with this Win 10 updating regime. These threshold and anniversary updates are just in place upgrades... you download a 3.5 GB file and it upgrades like a new OS. That never worked well and probably never will. The problem is most users would never notice the system was using driver x vs driver y after the update. For those that notice and care, fresh installs every six months to a year fellas.

In saying that. There does seem to be a problem with any driver set on 1607 ATM. This is latest 7899 (which I just installed to see if it would fix these errors), and while all works well, the event viewer, task manager, and reliability tool, are all filled with errors relating to the Realtek file - ATKEX_cmd.

Anyone check to see if they have the same please?

    LOL, yeah, but problem solved

Rename ATKEX_cmd.exe to ATKEX_cmd.bak, stops it running, hence no more errors

Dunno what it does?, don't care either, as it's fixed the problem, and sound works just fine without it.

Well, I switched to 2016 LTSB today (Pro was just far too intrusive and annoying), but SSII still works fine, and there is no problem opening it manually, nor through Sound Manager, again.

Drivers were installed automatically as per usual, then I updated them to 7904 via Device Manager manually, after which, I installed SSII from the ASUS files folder included in package from motherboard site.

    All good

One thing I did notice though with SSII. Sound through my Senn's 598 headphones is utter rubbish, until one selects 7.1 sound, then it's a different ball game, with brilliant sound across the board, and the controls in SSII actually doing something

Try this, as I have a feeling that RS1 is locking files at will.

    1. Disable your ethernet adapter/wifi temporarily (right click - disable), we will enable after were done.
    2. Uninstall all the Realtek drivers and software, in Programs & Features.
    3. Go to Device Manager and delete Realtek HD Audio if it's still there.
    4. Search drives for any Realtek installed folders, and delete.
    5. Reboot.
    6. Go to Device Manager again, and right click on missing audio device, or if OS has installed a driver, do same. Update Driver Software, choose 'browse' and select the folder where you have latest driver located, let it install.
    7. Reboot.
    8. Enable ethernet/wifi adapter.
    9. Download SSII that I have uploaded here: http://www30.zippyshare.com/v/VUsZXVr3/file.html
    10. Before running, right click on file and select 'properties'. Under 'general' tab, if file is locked, tick 'unblock' (it shouldn't be, but just check).
    11. Once done, right click on file again, then 'run as administrator', and let it install.
    12. Reboot.
    13. Run Sound Manager from taskbar and go to SSII tab, click to run, and all should be OK. You should be able to run from shortcut on desktop also.

    Hello guys,

If you own Rampage V E10 board which has additional supremeFx hiFi audio. it wont work with windows 10 AU 1607.
    Sonic sutdio wont launch either.
Please disable supremeFx hiFi DAC in device manager(dont un install)
sonic studio opens up fully functional.
I think the problem is with either bios or windows mapping usb audio devices along with on board audio.
We need to wait for updated driver or Bios from asus.
    Hope this helps.
