thanks a million dude. definitely going to try this overclock as i just bought my new 1080 strix. does overclocking overall improve the visual and stability side of games.
Is there a need to overclock even if games are running constantly smooth 60fps +. My specs are
CPU: 3770k 3.9GHz boost
GPU: 1080 GTX Asus Strix
MOBO: Asus Maximus Formula V
PSU: Corsair HX1000
RAM: Corsair dominator 1333MHz boost to 1936Mhz
H100 Corsair Cooler

Hi Aessmatics
Overclocking doesn't improve visuals in games but it does increase frames per second, it's not necessary to overclock but since you have a 144Hz monitor you could overclock your ROG Strix 1080 to get as many frames per second as you can.

@Nate
Thanks for clearing this up for me. Im new to this overclocking sort of thing so its good to know every aspect of it. Will try my best to get as much fps out of my rig.
Cheers

You can use a FPS counter program such as Fraps to see how many FPS you're getting before overclocking then see how many FPS you get after overclocking.
Overclocking your ROG Strix 1080 is easy with GPU Tweak II.
Select your operating system then click utilities, as of now the latest version is 1.3.6.0

Seems GPU tweak just isnt enough. Guess I got a nice pair of cards. Running a pair of GTX 1080 Strix A8G in SLI with GPU tweak set to cards synched and moving the sliders to max on everything except volts they take it and beg for more with max temp of 56C. 2088 is as high as the GPU tweak takes it.

Don't forget to enable the Overclocking range enhancement option in GPU Tweak II so that you go as high as your GPU will permit it.

Ill give that a go later when I roll back the drivers. Just updated last night to 375.95 and not smooth at stock clocks and only got worse. 375.70 was working awsomely. Guess thats what you get for trying to improve on something that you already maxed out. The two cards are good for topping 26K in firestrike and top of the heap in extreme and ultra. Nice to hit the compare button and see "Better than 99% of all results" Kingpin must be hitting everything with LN2 to get the crazy scores, or running quad Titans! I have some tweaking to do with the CPU too. Not happy with the corsair H115i. It works but it can also be better. Dropped temps 5C just by getting rid of their factory paste and replacing it with AS5. Just dont like the look of the rough cut on the block. I'm used to nice and shiny like every EK block I've ever owned. The Stix cards seem to do pretty good on AIR and still quiet even at max fan RPMs Ive not yet topped 56C on air so Ill let those be for now.

Hi JustinThyme
I know this has nothing to do with overclocking your 1080's but for thermal compound the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut is at the top of the list for non conductive thermal compounds.
http://overclocking.guide/thermal-pa...itrogen-ln2/6/
A 1 gram tube will do your cpu 3 or 4 times.

Here are my temps with the vcore at 1.504v
Click the picture a few times to make it bigger.

For some reason I cant open your image Nate, says Im not logged in or dont have sufficient privileges.
Im sitting at 2Ghz boost @ 1.05V (only +30) which is about where the sliders maxed out at before I enabled overclocking range enhancement where it promptly crapped. Didnt change anything it just didnt like it. Caught hell recovering. Then pull the sliders back and GPUZ is showing the second card at default clocks and not changing with the other. Uninstalled, had to do a hard shut down then reinstall and everything is back to the way it was. Dont know how hard I will push it and if I go to pulling heat sinks on the 1080s it will be full cover EK blocks going back on. Feel more comfortable pushing it harder when I know I have better cooling. My go back to using the set up I had on my last build. Had to dig up a hole in my basement several years back and while I had it open I also had a section of hot water heating in floor heating that I put in the dirt before I filled it back with concrete. Ran low voltage wiring down to the basement from my second floor office/man cave. 12V from fan header connects to 12V coil in 120V relay for 1/4 hp pump in basement. Best completely silent system Ive ever had. No noise upstairs at all and with 50 ft of copper tubing and the coils in the dirt that stays 65F all year its one step shy of using a chiller. The loop never heats up. Glycol stays right at 65F.

Haha that's pretty ingenious how you cooled your loop !
Are you able to open any of the two links? I'm not sure why you can't open them but I was referring to the arctic silver and your cpu.
Maybe try using a different web browser such as google chrome.
