Samsung 960 Pro & Evo Announced!

According to PCper and OC3D, the retail version of the Samsung Polaris architecture based drives is to be announced tomorrow,
no word on when they hit retail shelves but I'd imagine in a week or two's time with preorders starting sooner obviously.

Just a heads up to everyone who was waiting for the retail version of the SM961.

Also rumor has it that the 960 Pro may even have 2TBs on an M.2 format.

Suffice to say should be rather interesting.

GREAT NEWS. I was sad because my 850 EVO SSD didn't arrive in same time with SM961 to install both in same time, but now I will wait little more for 960 PRO.
I hope price of 512GB will be similar as 950 PRO and I would not like to see huge difference in performance between 512GB and bigger models.
Difference between 512GB and 256GB 950 PRO was insane. And people still mostly want 256/512GB version.

To be honest I can't wait to buy 960 PRO 512GB.
Than I could see what happen with my board to resolve issue if can and to overclock CPU little more and to mod little my PC.
Now I have iPhone SE for better pictures of my PC because cameras never interested me.

1 and 2 TB.. wow.

The speeds are close to the 961 at this point but of course you'll get driver updates, Magician support, ect. I didn't see prices yet but I would imagine 2tb has gotta be close to 1k.

I'm going to have to go with the 2 tb, as it's cheaper than buy 2 1 tbs. (Dual boot currently, and the disk for Windows is too small)

512GB Version 960 PRO for me. 🙂
I hope Samsung will send faster supplies in different countries than OEM SM961.
I like because than one day I could remove all my storage in smaller PC as Mini PC without HDD Bay or even laptop without losing space and speed.
I think all people now should invest in 1-2TB SSD instead 4TB HDD. Except if someone really need space. But many people keep HDD only 20-30% full.
It's best 1TB M.2 + 2TB SSD for people with deeper pocket, for other 512GB OS + 1TB SSD Gaming, and one small SSD for different OS (example Windows 10 or 7) with only basic drivers installed nothing else.
Everything else could be on Externall HDDs special when USB 3.1 Gen 2 show up.
But SSD are still expensive if you ask me, 512GB M.2 fastest model + 1TB SSD 850 EVO as standard option cost around 550$.
Many people rather buy graphic card, or that's one nice i7-6850K. But with never platforms even games should be installed on SSD SATA III.
