Same as yours, I think. I make regular image backups with Acronis True Image, and throw in a Windows Image every once in a blue moon. I usualy do clean installs when I replace OS drives (always seems like a good time for a fresh start ), but when I've imaged existing OS drives, I've used both Acronis and Windows successfully.

Oh. I thought you used a freeware cloner. I could swear you mentioned something once . . .

Not sure if I'm hijacking or not, but I need a replacement circuit board and ribbon cable for the carptastic touchpad and brain dead button thingy. I dumped a wee bit of gin on the button bar thingy and now I'm in constant button press mode. I had to yank the ribbon cable on the entire front bit (touchpad, button thingy and led blinkies) but unfortunately did that before fully understanding you need to click open that small tab on the connector or the ribbon cable will self destruct. It's not a big problem if I remember to pack the side mouse, but it just makes my lappy not as versatile as it could be. All the circuit board button replacements on fleabay don't look anything like my g73j's, so I'm a little at a loss as to how/what to order to replace the actual circuit board and ribbon cable for the whole thing.

I've unfortunately already burned through some scratch getting what I thought would be a replacement "palmpad" or whatever they called the top bit only to find out just the touchpad and top bezel was included according to this seller's criteria on what made sense, no circuit board for the buttons.

From your description, it's not clear what you need. There are several parts in that area:

    Touchpad
    Touchpad cable
    Button Assemby
    Button Assembly Cable

Which parts do you think you actually need, and what is your specific model?

Take the buttons out and clean them with Rubbing alcohol, not liquor. Lol
