G75VW screen replacement & upgrade (in Singapore?)

Hi guys,
I own a 4 years old G75VW-DS71. Several months ago, after I did a yearly clean-up on it, the screen begun to show a vertical green line. It was just one vertical line at first, but then on the next week I get another green vertical line and then a red vertical line on the following week. It stays at 3 vertical lines from then.

I have been living with 3 vertical lines on my screen for months now. Now I'm looking to get the screen replaced (or repaired?).
But here is the thing : I remember years ago I found in this forum that some people tried to upgrade their G75VW' screen. From the standard 60Hz screen to the 3D variant (120Hz).
Is that possible? Can anyone confirm?
It seems I can't find that old post any more, so I'm stuck here.

Second question is how do I get a screen replacement? I'm currently living in Singapore, so any asus officials from Singapore here that can help me?

FYI, I did try to bring my G75VW to official asus service center here. But they said they need to take my laptop for a week or so to identify the problem and replace if necessary. I asked about the upgrade and they gave a quick 'no'. That was a very disappointing visit.

TLDR:
Please help me, share your knowledge on replacing G75VW screen. Especially upgrading from 60Hz to 120Hz. Is it possible?

I appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks in advance!

Find a place to buy the screen (ebay or some other place) and replace the screen yourself, it's easy to do.

Below is a link to a video on how to replace the screen for your laptop.

Good luck.

Hi CladMaster, thanks for the info.
Yes, I came across that youtube video some time ago. This is why I'm confident in doing the replacement my self.
But I'd like to confirm that I can replace the default 60 Hz screen (from DS71 variant) with a 3D ready 120Hz screen.
Is the plug/connector for 60Hz & 120Hz screen interchangeable? (I somewhat remember the the connector might be different?)

The reason I want to use 120Hz is because I want to get the possibility to enjoy higher refresh-rate/fps on some games.

Also, additional question here. Are those screens sold on eBay or ScreenCountry original asus spare parts?
I'm willing to pay a bit more, so long as I can get the right stuff.

OK, I did some more checking and it seems that there are two options ....... and you have to match the screens specs.

Visit the links below to see the screens that fit this laptop....... there is a 'but' so read carefully from here on.

Make sure that new replacement screen is the same size, resolution, backlight type as your original screen!

I found a video that shows that the screen can be upgraded from 1600x900 to 1920x1080, but you must follow the instruction above to the letter.

The link below shows the upgrade done on a ASUS G75VW-TS71.

Please note, I can not guarantee that this will work myself as I've not done it, so continue at your own risk.

Hope this extra info helps, good luck.
