Nvidia Titan XP not compatible with Maximus Formula VIII?

Im in the middle of building my new machine,
however I seem to have run into a severe issue.

For some reason my new titan XP wont fit flush.

I cant see very well in this cramped space, but from what im gathering,
the notch next to the slot side of the card seems to be hitting my motherboard.

GPU : Titan XP
Motherboard : Asus Maximus VIII Formula
Case : EVGA DG-87

Ive already tried reseating the motherboard, but that didnt fix anything.

Is this issue known to anyone?
Am I making a rookie mistake or something?
Why is it not seating properly?

Hi Sokonomi,
Here's an idea of what it should look if like, as long as you have it in the first pcie x16 slot you should be good to go.

Thats where it is, but it wont line up with the PCIe bracket bar.
Im not entirely sure if its my videocard hitting the motherboard, or the motherboard not sitting right entirely, but ive reseated the motherboard twice now and it still doesnt fit.

I tried installing a different videocard and also tried using a different PCIe slot.

Whats the deal, Asus? New or old, videocards simply wont fit?

I put the motherboard on its box so nothing could possibly impede the videocard from seating properly. Turns out that yes, the shroud IS blocking the videocards.. Looking from the bottom up at the videocards you can clearly see the gap widening towards the bracket end, the cards are indeed leaning on the shroud.

What the hell, Asus??

The plastic shroud can be removed (at least on Hero). That's what I would do if I would hit this kind of issue. The plastic shroud is cosmetic only and effectively useless. If that's a problem for you (aesthetics ??) just return the mobo and get something else.

//edit: I assume you don't want to look for another GPU since you shelled out the money for a Titan XP... you could also cut a hole in the shroud where it interferes. aesthetics would remain, but I guess warranty would be gone.

Also looking at this pic: http://i.imgur.com/OMsKg3K.jpg
Is the shroud on the mobo actually mounted properly and flush with the mobo PCB? It looks like its off by a couple mm but may be just the picture.

I dont want to get rid of the shroud, thats kinda the whole reason I wanted this motherboard.

Yeah its just the picture, even with the board just sitting on the box the cards wont go in properly. http://i.imgur.com/LKVQntU.jpg

it doesn't look like the motherboard's shroud is impeding your Titan XP, at least not from this picture. when you try to press the left side of the GPU in this picture downwards, can you visibly tell if something on the motherboard is blocking it from going down by that couple more millimeters?

Yeah something looks strange, our SupremeFX is in different locations. My gpu is sitting on the X where yours is sitting on the S.

Just wondering if you have the gpu in the 2nd pcie x16 slot and if the motherboard standoffs are in the right place.

In the last pics im only using the second slot for easier pictures, its doing the same on slot 1.
And its most definitely hitting the motherboard, heres a picture of it sitting on its box with a videocard on it;

You can see the gap getting bigger towards the bracket end.
The card cant seat properly because of the shroud.
