Part 2 - Rampave V E 10 and Corsair Platinum Special Edition Ram (help! )

    Greetings,

So I have the Corsair Dominator Platinum Special Edition Ram that comes with one XMP profile for 3200MHz.

The Corsair Dominator Platinum Special Edition media description on the Corsair website says that this:
"The 3200 MHz modules are carefully screened and selected, and can be safely overclocked up to 3600 MHz."

There isn't an XMP profile for 3600 MHz, nor is there any documentation on the 'suggested' timings. I'm assuming that Corsair tested these sticks on various motherboards, so I'm asking the following:

Does anyone have a few timings/voltage suggestions? In testing things out I went all the way to 1.4v and timings ranging from 16-19-19-39-T2 as your Vengeance 3600 version has all the way up to 18-20-20-40-T2. I have even been able to get into BIOS. So can you give me some insight to what tested to get these kits to 3600 MHz? I have Mode 1 on for both, would it be more beneficial to go to Mode 2 or no Mode?

Now I know the gains I get going to 3600 MHz will be offset with higher timings, but I wanted to actually test which setup would be faster.

    Thank you very much.

    BT

I'm thinking I either have to go to 1.4 (or higher) or wait for a more stable BIOS release.

I'm using 901 because 1003 doesn't work at 1.35v using the XMP profile. 901 does.

You will have a very difficult time overclocking memory past 3200 on HW-E 3400 mhz is doable on BW-E, but 3600 would be on a Skylakee platform. 1.4 to 1.45 volts is fine on DDR4 for daily use

Like Menthol said, HW-E and BW-E are not made for those speeds, that's more for Skylake.
3400 should be doable but requires manual tuning on BW-E.
I wouldn't even try to go for 3600Mhz on a BW-E CPU if you intent it for everyday use - the pain to get this going outweights the benefits by far.
For benchmarks on the other hand, go for it. ;D

As for "suggestions" on timings and voltage, it all really boils down to your IMC.
Just tinker around a little bit - unfortunately no one but you on this forum will be able to tell the quality of your IMC.

Yeah this morning I looked at the specs of my motherboard and 3400 is the limit, and even then as you said I'm sure it will take some tweaking.

I'll fiddle around with the timings. If I get too high, then I'll abandon it. Right now 3200 with 14-15-15-36 is pretty good.
