Based on how much the system is drawing, I suspect they're going to have to both release a new firmware update to fix the allowed power draw, and likely send out replacement adapters with higher wattage. Just my guess.

I'm in the process of trying to return mine, but I'm outside of the 30 day return window now.
What damage do you see over the course of 1-2 years though?

I've already requested quotes on other manufacturers. It just arrived today. I went with this over the MSI and Gigabyte because it had HDMI 2.0 and G-sync. MSI is HDMI 1.4 only and the Gigabyte in my price range was 17" and I wanted something lighter.

    Hello,

I am in the process of getting the GL702VM and I was trying to find if this laptop has the same feature as the GL502VS. However, after some googling, it seems that this is more like a common feature among manufacturers rather than issue? I don't know if I am allowed to post links to other sites, but it seems at least Acer and Razer have this same feature in even older and new models.

However, I think is a very poor design, since the battery will wear out very quickly since it's in use constantly and after that the gaming performance is not what you see in the reviews. My old Compaq laptop's battery lasted almost 10 years in light use before completely dead (yes, it is possible).

So I played BF1 for about 40 minutes today. battery dropped 9%... yeesh.

not quite sure how to feel about that. Figure 10% per hour.
so 7 hours of straight gameplay before it gets to 30% and starts throttling?
That's probably more than enough, I can't imagine it straining the battery any worse than regular use though. In fact, using the battery up a bit and then recharging it is always better for a battery than it constantly being at 100% anyway.

I might start cross shopping the Gigabyte P57Xv6-PC4D when it becomes available again. I really like this laptop though. It's the right size and weight and the performance is incredible.

Is anyone finding that by reducing game quality you're getting better battery drain?

After 3 days of no respond regarding my open Ticket i prepare my Laptop for a refund.

I contact my seller regarding the refund. So i bring the package to the post office to send it back.

    Yesterday i try something too.
I play Division without AC plug till 25% Battery life and plug in AC.

Poor quality and performance while the battery is slowly charged.

When i put the game into the background (alt-tab) the battery is charging much faster.

    a pity
think i switch to MSI too

    So long Asus!

I'm not sure this is a 'game over' for me yet. Especially within my price range. I have a 1 year warranty through Asus and a 1 year extension through NewEgg. If the battery conks, I'll just replace it. If I have to pay for a battery, so be it.

At this point, nothing compares for GTX1070 PLUS size/weight to this unit right now for under $1650.

Some people have said that without battery boosting, the performance is poor. But like iFoxRomeo tested, the performance hit should be "only" around 15%? I wonder, why the frametimes would be affected, unless there is some kind of gap the GPU is constantly hitting, causing the issue. In every game or just some? Can someone test a bit more?

If you let this Laptop only at your Desk ... may you be right.
    But what about mobility??
So you play 4 hours and want to leave with you laptop ... with half loaded Battery??

But your right .. for this price unbeatable. I bought it without M.2 SSD for 1499€ here in Germany.

Does the GPU still stay in specifications (i.e. GPU boost frequency is at least 1645 MHz) for GTX1070 when running without extra battery power?
