Just got my new laptop & unboxed it, plugged it in & hit the power button...

The keys light up & the backlight turns on, but then nothing. No bios splash screen, no booting Windows, NOTHING.

The key light function keys are working as is the tab key. Hitting the power button sends it into sleep mode.

Called Amazon & they're sorting out a pickup & replacement, but that will take a while. Any advice on whether there might be something I can do to get it up & running?

Just tried turning it on again to see if time had healed it...

Smoke visibly came out of the side & I smelt burning - I don't think it's a simple fix.

I hope this isn't representative of Asus' quality control or I'll be asking for a refund instead of a replacement.

yes this is probably results of bad quality assurance, since all versions of the GL702VM-GC026T-BE have broken tubro intel functions. Which the support team of asus
doesn't even want to admit.

GL702VM dead on arrival...
