Of course except that. I still need it when I'm gaming, but it's really distracting when you hear it while not gaming.

    FX502VM owner here.
    i7 7700HQ - 16GB RAM - GTX 1060 3GB
    B156HTN05.2 screen 120hz refresh rate
OS: Samsung 960 PRO 512 GB
    Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500vGB
CPU core undervolt -110mV, CPU cache undervolt -110mV, Intel GPU undervolt -40mV.
Turboboost disabled through registry and throttlestop, CPU still running 100%.
1060 GPU running Core 1900 MHz / Memory 4000 MHz.
Max temp for gaming is between 71-76C.

The design of the screen lid is the worst, it blocks the exhaust vents totally.
Installed Deepcool multicore X6 cooling pad & 2 units Opolar/Taffware LC06 vacuum cooler. Had trouble installing the vacuum coolers since the silicone shrouds weren't long enough to get to the laptop exhaust, couldn't seal the airflow. Good result nonetheless, they were still able to ventilate much of the hot air.

Sealing the gap between the screen lid and the mainboard with silicone tube really improved the airflow & performance of the vacuum coolers! The airflow is almost completely sealed and flows one way to the vacuum coolers, now they could draw in more heat from the laptop.

SSD drives monitored idle at 32-34C and load at 54-56C. They are being cooled indirectly, I must say I'm surprised and pleased.

    CSGO temp:
    https://s9.postimg.org/fbofyk3f3/CSGO_temp_smaller.jpg
All max graphic settings, 1920x1080, MSAA 8x, AF 16x, Motion Blur, Triple buffering on, V-sync on, MSI Afterburner limit framerate @119 fps - 120 hz refresh rate.

By now, the only part that has the highest temp @ idle and doesn't have cooler is the laptop's PCH chipset @ 59C idle.
Ordered 15x15x2 mm copper shim and thermal tape to stick to the PCH. Will show result later.

    *update*
    https://s9.postimg.org/v7wknh5xr/PCH_chipset.jpg
Copper shim installed. Chipset temp drops to 50C idle. Will have to let it burn in for a while before i could test the temp benefit to the system temp overall.
instant test game ROTTR, before PCH heatsink system maxed @ 76C, after PCH heatsink system maxed @ 75C gained 2 FPS more. not bad. let's wait and test again after burning in a few more hours.

    *update*
By Odin's beard! I BOUGHT THE WRONG THERMAL TAPE! I bought the M3 9448A which isn't actually thermally conductive. That's why it's getting hotter and hotter the more it burns in.
bought the correct M3 8810 thermal conductive tape and just finish installing the heatsink again. the initial performance looks promising, the PCH idles at 45C which is 5C cooler than previous setup. now back to burning in.

    Fan speed and noise

Hi everyone. I have GL502VM with i7-6700HQ. My cpu and gpu fans arun always at 12.5 % in idle. I used to hear almost no noise from fans while I was viewing some PowerPoint slides or pdf files. Evenmore I was able to hear them stopping and PC was pretty quiet. I don't know what is wrong. My idle temps are around 45-48 degrees for GPU and 38-42 degrees for CPU. These values are same as before but I guess something is wrong with fans.

I checked and cleaned them up with vacuum cleaner. Nothing has changed.

The only change I have made is I bought an SSD and installed the system on it. But I don't know it has anything to do with fans. Or maybe it is because of newly installed softwares etc. But my temps seem the same. What can be creating this problem and are there any possible solutions?

maybe because you used to have HDD running, and Notebook HDD tends to run a bit noisier than their PC counterpart and that noise masked your fan noise in the background?
i'm just shooting for luck, who knows.

Then there would have been much more noise when I had HDD. But I am pretty sure that it is not the case. For example I can't hear fans stopping at any time. Even if I wait for 10 minutes without touching PC, fan noise is same.

I wonder if it can be related to GPU drivers. Maybe something is wrong with new drivers which forces the fans to run constantly.

maybe it's the GPU power management mode in Nvidia control panel, you could set to optimal, adaptive or maximum performance. i set mine adaptive at global profile but maximum performance in each game profile. maximum performance in global profile forces the GPU to kick the core clock and voltage up even when you're browsing, maybe that's why the fan rarely stop.

    My GL702VS with I7 7700HQ / GTX1070 is broken !!! Wont start anymore ...

Cant start it and cause i live in Germany i dont have any warranty ... so i will sell the components solo ...

If anyone is interested just send me PM (Motherboard with CPU and GPU - Bottomcase, IPS GSync Panel etc.)

Got original Bottom Case and bought a "new" one where i made this Mod. Temps goes down around 20-25 with this Bottomcase. I Have an invoice from 21. March 2017 bought in the USA ...

Try reinstalling your ATK Drivers, it might help.
