GL502VS Motherboard butchered! will sue the lab

Hi

My GL502VS have power issues after returned from a (questionable) lab,

Currently the laptop will crash after a minute of use
- red light is blinking
- wont charge
- if i remove the battery - wont wont turn on with AC power

Questions:
1. Can the GL502VS run withouht battery? (if yes, then they created some short-circuit damage)
2. this thingy looks damaged "J9601", can this be the reason of the short circuit? I assume its related to the battery.

Please let me know about this:

1) Can GL502VS laptop run on AC power without battery connected?

Because im trying to first understand if its battery issue or something else,
As currently, laptop would not power on with battery disconnected.
