I have not modified my button case so can't say . Was basing it from the drives location in laptop , because they don't have dedicated cooling so they have to rely on airflow in whole case . My Kingston A1000 is idling at around 55 atm with fans on min, while with fans 40ish , hard to say how much heat is generated solely from nvme and how much added from gpu/cpu. But on some load it easy goes over 60C. If i was maxing out 82C - 83C cpu/gpu in demanding games before , now i hit 85-86C at max . Isn't really a problem for average temps , but i sure would like to keep max temps as low as possible and It's adding joules to overall heat problem. Have you noticed any hdd temp change after modifying buttom case ? Maybe because your overall case temp is lower it wouldn't be an issue. But playing demanding game + recording a gameplay or having anything else loading drive is producing additional heat , so airflow is needed and i feel like with holes on bottom the air would come through holes and not over the motherboard and drives.
I did some tests while working and gaming.

I have a Micron 1100 MTFDDAV256T which hits about 57° while working with lightroom and importing pictures. During gaming session (GPU and CPU @ ~80°) without doing storage operations it hits about 49°.

The other Samsung SSD 850 EVO is idling at 35° while gaming.

So I think those temps should not be a problem.

Thanks Onjax, you are star. The guide literally lowered my temps on CPU and GPU with more than 10C which is amazing. No loss to performance.

Battlefield 1 on Ultra before guide - 77C on CPU and 74-75 on GPU, after guide temps are 65C on CPU and 65C on GPU and the performance is the same.
I am using fans on full speed, its a bit loud but with headset you don't hear the fans. My Gl703GS is cool while gaming for 4-5 hours which is really awesome.

    XTU - 90V on CPU
Afterburner - V set on 831 and clock to 1800 (in game is 1797mhz)

    Hi I have a G702VI with I7 7700hq and GTX 1080. Temps are horrible.

At stock I have like 85°C on both GPU and CPU.
A repaste with liquic metal did not do much.
Setting - 0.170V on the CPU and locking the GPU at 1848Mhz@0.875V still results in 78°C on CPU and 83°C on GPU.
A Opolar Cooler on medium settings brings these temps down to 75°C on CPU and 80°C in GPU.

(Tested with Overwatch with unlocked framerate, resulting in a steady 97% GPU load).

Is this normal? I am especially disappointed at the GPU's performance. Normally a stable 2.000 MHz overlock is the minimum which is to be expected from every GTX1080.

For a desktop gtx1080 with proper cooling, that is. You would be lucky to get that on a laptop.

The only problem i have is CPU going over 90C on two cores while playing games specially PUBG. Is this worrying?

    Hi,

I have an ASUS ROG Gl502VM with i7 7700 hq and GTX 1060. It showed high temps while playing games like pubg upto 90C+. So i read on the forums that it was on of the persistent issues which requires undervolting so i decided to give it a try and oh boy did it exceed my expectations on GPU. The temps dropped from 80+ to 60-65 while playing PUBG. Oh boy and did the CPU break all the expectations the CPU did not drop the temps and instead started showing spikes of upto 98C on only 2 cores while the other two were atleast 20C below. After I turned off TURBO the temp spikes stopped but the temps were still high upto 88C. I need help on how to properly undervolt and need some help on what i m doing wrong. Attached is all my settings and the temps at idling which show spikes.

After improving the cooling on the G702VI (repaste with liquid metal, putting some electrical tape on the gaps between fand and cooler, Opolar laptop cooler on hot days) my temps max out at around 75°C, a 10°C improvement over stock. Lower temps also improve efficiency of the mosfets, so higher clocks are attainable. I now max out at 1.900MHz
