I have had an Asus G20aj-b11 for just about a year now and am looking to upgrade the current (factory) graphics card
which is a nvidia geforce gtx 960, with 2 gigs of vram. I am very interested in getting my hands on a 1080 series card
and have been looking through posts to see if such a card could fit and if Ill need to upgrade my power supply.
I have the dual power supply 180w plus 240w that came with the desktop and from what ive read the card should fit into the slot.
I believe that since I have an Asus desktop it would be in my best interest to get the Asus brand version of the 1080 card in terms of
it working more refined and efficiently together since it is of the same brand name. This may mean better compatibility*and less hassle
putting it together? Is there a quality and performance difference in the brands or is it pay for your favorite brand name and essentially
    have the same thing? (O.o)
Wait to purchase your 1080 card. The 10 gig 1080 TI card will be coming soon and could lower the prices of all cards

    First things first
Unplug G20, find donor and donate.

I looked at the latest model myself, takes two power bricks, and after careful consideration I decided the small form factor just did not out weigh the limited upgradability and the PITA it takes to do it. Its basically a laptop made into a tower with a PCI slot for graphics.

I finally ditched that Idea and jumped off the deep end into a custom build that I can actually upgrade. You are going to have issue with any card that has some umph to it fitting in your case.

    You current card
    ASUS GTX 960 12 x 2.2 x 8.7

    ASUS Strix 1080 16 x 3.5 x 9.2 in

The 1080 strix cards are massive. Very nice, have a pair of the A8Gs in SLI running at 2Ghz but they do take up some serious real estate. They hang a good inch over the end of my full ATX Maximus VIII Extreme MOBO, no way they are fitting in a G20 case.

As for technology, never wait. If you wait for the next best thing you will spend your entire life waiting. As soon as the next best thing hits the markets its replacement is announced in a month or two if not before the current one actually hits the shelves.

If you choose to stick wit hthe G20 your options are to shop for the best thing you can find based on size or be prepared to break out a dremel tool. You may be able to get a reference card......ooops excuse me "Founders Edition" which = higher price for lowest rated fit in there. Don't know how much the dimensions have changed but the G20CB is now available with a GTX 1080 but it doesn't specify if its an actual reference card or one that's been sawed off or modified just to fit this form factor or even if its been added to the MOBO.

There are a lot of manufacturers on the market
    My personal Pics,
ASUS Strix, highest clocks out of any of them , are quiet and OC quite well.
