Compatible memory with the ASUS VIII HERO

I noticed the motherboard manual lists anything after 2800+ speed to be only 4GB DIMMs. G.Skill has released multiple series for 8GB and 16GB DIMMs as well as ones that go under lowest CL listed (CL14). Will a 3000-3733 16GB CL14-16 work with motherboard? I was also wanting to get up 64GB of those speeds, but am also unware if it will affect the IMC since these are four DIMMs rather than the typical two.

Hi Andriokz

Welcome to the ROG forum !

The i7's have a stronger IMC than the i5's so with the ram you want I hope you got a 6700k.

For 16GB I'd go with this.

For 64GB you'll want a slower frequency to have a better chance of it working, there are some 64GB Trident Z kits 3000MHz - 3200MHz but it's a coin flip if it will run or not.

64GB Kingston HyperX Fury 2400MHz

64GB Trident z 3000MHz

Oddly enough, I have those two sticks outside of this room, and yes it's a 6700k. But I will have to go to at least 32GIGS and if there's a chance I can't even use those four, it's probably best to go with 2x 16GB sticks of something lower.

for 32GB I'dgo with a 4x8GB kit.

It's not recommended to mix and match ram kits even of the same speed as it may give you problems, you'll want to get a single 32GB (4x8GB) kit.

These motherboards seem happier running 8GB sticks.

Can't do the 8GB sticks sadly, working with many heavy memory programs so an eventual 64 would be the best. Sad that there is an issue with 16GB otherwise I may have got the x99 or ASRock's Formula One instead. I'll just find some at 2800-3000 CL14 I guess.

Was never going to mix and match, was going to use exact same model/brand. Not sure why reply didn't go through last time.

hi Andriokz
You can choose the ROG certificated Memory modules
e.g AVEXIR / CORSAIR , they have ROG certificated and passed by QVL test

I have been using the Gskill 32 GB 3200mhz 14-14-14 kits in both my 2 X-99 boards and my Z-170 boards, and also a 32GB 3600mhz 16-16-16 kit on my M8E, you cannot go wrong with the Gskill B-die kits, they are the best available at this time, I also have a Corsair LED 32GB kit that works very well but not as well as the Gskill
Obviously the higher capacity and faster speeds need some tuning to run at those speeds reliably, I don't think any kit of this speed or capacity is just plug and play
Also the benefits of the high speed kits is little to none for daily use but memory prices are expected to rise sharply due to shortages so buy now

FuryA@ASUS,
While the Avexir and Corsair kits look very nice, ASUS needs some higher binned kits with their LOGO on them

I have no idea what the hell a B-die kit is, but I do know this is good to hear. Was more worried about the eventual 64GB overclocking, probably will have to scale down during that. I'll get a kit of 32 14 for the 32 GB though. I'll get the best looking one so my DRP3 can shroud it completely.

The name, the sig, the pic, the ROG--perfection.
