I'm not sure what it is but my laptop feels a bit slower after the Windows Anniversary update this morning. Anyone had this happened after the Windows update?

Check your drivers in device manager, Windows 10 has a tendency to install windows own hardware drivers. this is ok for some stuff but with gaming notebooks we need some driver to be specific to our notebooks. It is best to turn off driver updates from windows update. then uninstall and install the drivers from Asus Support Downloads for your notebook. Once you get your notebook stable again you can upgrade some like NVidia from NVidia. Read around here and see exactly which driver versions others are having good luck with. You'll also find after the AU upgrade some software will need to be upgraded or just reinstalled some software that ran on 10 just won't run in 10 AU with out patches from the producing company. For instance Macrium Reflect a very popular Imaging and back up program had scheduling issues it took them a couple of days to get us all back up and running with this very important program. I mean your back up Protocol is probably the most important system/Programs you have. So don't be surprised is some things don't work. Just go to their web site and forums if they have one and get updates or patches needed. Some companies just aren't going to help you out for which if you and other users can't solve the problems you just won't be able to run those programs. Another thing to take into account after a major upgrade like the AU it takes your computer a few days to settle in lots of things going on in the back ground that could be noticeable that will solve themselves after a few days.

Thanks guys. Couple of things, my Windows 10 was not an update from Windows 7. This is a brand new laptop (a week old) that I'm still learning to use. The other thing is, the slowness I'm talking about is very subtle. Not a dragged out kinda thing. I'm going to keep an eye on it as It worked last night. Could be I have a few more applications on it too now. Thanks again.

Subtle difference is not a very good reason to post.

First and foremost, any time you do a new install on anything there are a lot of processes that have to run for quite some time before it levels out. One major one is indexing service. If you have that on it can take several hours or even a day to level out depending on the amount of storage you have and how much data you have on them.

The other thing is your post is a bit contradictory. You say its a brand new week old laptop but win 7 hasn't been installed as the default OS on anything for a few years now. Matter of fact you cant even buy wind 7 any longer from M$ only OEM copies or keys from hack sites. The end of support for it was nearly two years ago and updates will cease in another 3 years.

All Brand new machines are shipping with Win 10 without exception. If you are getting anything else you are getting a refurb or just old stock.

Yes my reply was for your upgrading windows 10 to windows 10 AU. This was a major upgrade not an update. otherwise see JustinThyme post

Hey JustinThyme, how's it going? Woodchuck never said his brand new notebook had Windows 7 on it, he said it came w/ Windows 10 and stated it wasn't an OS upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 but merely the latest Windows 10 Anniversary update that seems to have caused this recent slow responsiveness issue on his new notebook, it was Detleg that said he never uses anything but Windows 7 lol.
Woodchuck, which new model ASUS ROG notebook do you have? Maybe you need to go to ASUS notebook support site and update the drivers from their list or perhaps update your notebooks BIOS & flash to the latest version if it doesn't already have it?
