Hi all, I just bought Asus GTX 1080 to replace my 5 years old card, after I install everything, I press the power button, my system refuse to start and the Q-code show 00, I don't know what happen, the only way for me to start up my system is press the CMOS button, the system will start up. is it got anything to do with my overclocking that my system refuse to start? Now every time before I start my system, I need to press CMOS button once to clear everything, any idea how to solve this problem? thanks

Nice rig. I like the equipment list. Here are a few thoughts, but I'm afraid nothing specific.

Code 00 usually means a dead CPU. If yours boots with clear-CMOS defaults, that's probably not it this time.

There may be a mismatch between the PSU and the new video card that gets in the way of initial overclock voltage settings. To check, measure all the ProbeIt points with a DVM while the 00 code is showing. The fix might be to put relaxed initial settings in the OC profile, then progress to the desired eventual settings.

Have you tried to revert to the old video card? Does the problem clear up?
The video card is in the x16_1 slot, right?

If the old card didn't have a UEFI video BIOS, the boot settings on the R4E would need the CSM (Compatibility Support Module) enabled.
New cards like the GTX 1080 Strix have UEFI bootability. Try disabling CSM.

Hope some of these help

Hi jap383, my card is install at the 16_1 slot, i don't have other card to try because my gtx titan black is dead, i also disable CSM still no luck, don't know what is the cause

Hi all, from the day I started this thread, it's been quiet a few months had passed. I have tried to figure it out and try some step to resolve it. Today, I finally know the culprit of my problem. I have tried -

1. Switch PSU (Failed)
2. Change all the extension cable (Failed)
3. Re-seat water block and apply new thermal paste (Failed)
4. Re-install Window (Failed)
5. Flash BIOS (Failed)
6. Switch between BIOS 1 and BIOS 2 (Failed)
7. Change CMOS battery (Failed)
8. Changed Display Port Cable to DVI cable (Passed!)

It is the display port cable that I bought together with ASUS GTX 1080 caused me this problem for few month and I am having this problem from the day I bought my GTX 1080. I switched to DVI cable and my RIG can post and straight go in to window, no more stuck at Q-Code 00. For those who having this Q-code 00 problem, maybe you should try exchange your video cable, even it is not display port and different ASUS motherboard. Try and see if the solution I use can help you too, thanks

I am glad I no need to RMA this board since it is still doing fine.
By the way, May I know how to edit this thread title? I wish to edit it to (SOLVED)

(Sorry for my bad English)

Hi all, so as I solved my problem by change the Display port cable to DVI cable few days ago. I thought that my display port cable was faulty, I went to buy a new display port cable and try it again to see if it will boot or not? The answer is no, even I used the new display port cable, my rig stuck at Q-Code 00 and wont post. I really don't know what is the cause of this but to avoid any unnecessary problem, I switch back to DVI cable until I do more testing to see what have cause this weird Q-Code 00, thanks
