First if your system is operating properly then there is no need to update your bios, secondly if you update and have issues roll back using the flashback method, it's that simple

Reasons for updating (to fix issues, to stay current, whatever) are a null point now. The public beta has come to a close. 3007 still lingers for a couple boards on local websites but for the most part it has been removed from locations it was previously posted.

A more appropriate analogy would be taking a wheel that works and hitting it with a hammer to see if it works better.

I think all of your analogies are buffoonery and under thought. The basic assumption of these analogies is that everyone that updates does so without reason (example "taking a wheel that works and hitting it with a hammer to see if it works better"). Yes, some people update to stay current, in hopes of a "faster" system, to see if new features materialize etc. There are also those that update what they perceive as a stable system because ASUS says the release "improves system stability". Lastly, there are those, specific mentions in both 3007 threads, that update to correct issues they experience (memory stability, qfan problems, etc).

Whatever the reason, it isn't the user's fault for updating to a release that was improperly tested or accidentally made available.

I started an online chat with someone from ASUS asking why it was taken down. I'm on hold. I'll post the reason(s) if I get an answer.

    Update.

    Transcript of my conversation...

    Asus Wed, 12/21/16 10:04:50 am America/Edmonton

Hello *****, thank you for contacting ASUS support. Please give me a few moments to review your information. I will be with you shortly.

    Me 10:06:51 am

Hi. I've already updated my bios with version 3007. I checked the support page today and I see it's no longer available. Can you tell me the reason(s) for this?

    Asus 10:08:34 am

I do understand your query and I would be more than happy to assist.
    One moment please.

    Me 10:09:05 am

    Of course.

    Asus 10:10:53 am

Could you please provide me with the serial number of your unit?
Here are the possible locations for the Motherboard Serial Number other than the box:
    Parallel port
    Side of PCI slot
    Side of power connector
    Underneath/backside of board
    Side of CNR slot

    Me 10:11:42 am

    G**********
    That's the serial #. 10:12:06 am
I don't see how that's relevant to my question though. 10:13:00 am

    Asus 10:13:28 am

Just to have your case update, my apologies for the inconvenience.

    Me 10:13:43 am

    I see. No problem.

    Asus 10:13:54 am

    Thank you for your understanding.
Also you are using Windows 10? 10:14:31 am

    Me 10:14:38 am

    Yes.

    Asus 10:14:46 am

    Thank you.

    Me 10:15:08 am

But on the support page, this bios version is removed from all windows versions

    Asus 10:16:39 am

Yes as I am seeing that there is 2202 being the latest version this may have been for revision of the BIOS version by the Development Team and also new feature or hardware compatibility issue could be given adjustments.

    Me 10:18:26 am

Do you know what the specific reason(s) why version (3007) was taken offline though? Is there an issue that could cause problems for me being that I've already updated my bios version to 3007?

    Asus 10:18:52 am

That I would not be able to confirm I am afraid.

    Me 10:18:54 am

People on the ROG forum are wondering why

    Asus 10:19:28 am

As indicated adjustment to the version more than likely is the major cause.

    Me 10:19:42 am

Ok, well thanks for your time.

    Asus 10:20:01 am

You are most welcome and it is my pleasure.
Your case number would be N**********
Did you have any other questions for me today?

    Me 10:20:34 am

No, that's the only question I had. Thank you.

    Asus 10:20:39 am

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.

You are an important customer to us and we appreciate your business. Please take a moment to complete a short survey to let us know how we are doing.

Thank you again for choosing ASUS. Have a gres

To let me know how I am doing, please feel free to provide feedback by clicking the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" at the top of this chat window. Your feedback is important.
Thank you for your chat. Feel free to contact us again. 10:21:02 am

As you can see, I was not able to get a specific answer, although I cannot blame the support person, it would still be nice if Asus stated a reason as to why they removed this version. However, with their less than thorough release notes, I'm not suprised.

Any version from 2202 and back, my SoundBlaster ZX causes huge issues. This is a known issue. 3007 fixed it. I hope to hell, when they release a "fixed" version, it doesn't get messed up again.
