So I am running the Asus M8E with 6700k, 3 EVGA 1080 GTX FTW ACX 3.0 cards, Noctua NH-D15 air fan setup until i decide to water-cool, I haven't made a decision on the storage as of yet, prob, Samsung 950's.

But the memory is where I am confused on.

when reading the QVL list how am I to get the the Max memory 64gb, at the highest speed 3866, or what I am missing here...what is the best memory to install at the stock speed then OC this up to those fast speeds 3333, 3400, 3466, ....up to 3866 etc. Does this mean I order what seems to the be the fastest at 64gb

F4-3400C16Q-64GTZ
64GB (4 x 16GB)) and then OC from there.....

Or getting Kingston memory HX426C15FBK2/16 .....16GB ( 2x 8GB ) and then over clock this to 3866 or am i missing how this works....

Hi TfastME8

If you want super fast ram you'd be better off going with a 16GB kit and even then it will be up to the cpu's integrated memory controller if it can handle it, nothing is guaranteed except for 2133MHz. 🙂

I'm running that HyperX FURY 2666MHz kit with my Maximus VIII Extreme actually. Couldn't be happier. 🙂

It's up to you and what you do with your system. If you need 64GB, go ahead and get it. 🙂

Good question haha

You'll get 2 different stories from me and Chino, he likes more ram at a lower speed while I prefer less ram with a faster speed. Ram isn't a big perforrnance deciding factor, if you're just gaming 16GB is enough. If you use programs that use alot of ram then it would make sense to go with more ram.

G'Skill's prices are on the rise.

You probably won't find a faster 16GB 3200MHz kit with CL14, you could get this and overclock it but when you have to loosen the timings to gain frequency you don't gain much.

16GB is plenty even with three 1080's. 🙂

Im running Gskill trident 3400Mhz 64GB kit. it will run at 3400 with no problems it will also run at 2133 no problem and everything in between. Ive had my CPU to just past the 5Ghz barrier with this memory at 3460 with 1.375 (rated for 1.35) Vram with ram WC. BCLK set to 104.85 and cpu multiplier to 48 at 1.495 Vcore for an OC to 5.032 Ghz.

Plicked the Ram right off the vendor list.

FWIW if you go WC dont pay attention to the buffoons saying to pry off the heat spreader with a precision screw driver. They need to be smacked for publishing that crap. A little heat with a heat gun and prying between with a plastic card (hotel key card LOL) and the spreaders popped right off and left no residue to clean up like the prying method does and it doesnt leave any tool marks.

I will be running both games and various programs that I would deab the machine to be a hybrid of workstation jobs and gaming as well.

I got my 3rd GTX 1080 FTW card in and my heat sink. For now I went with the Noctua NH-D15 air fan setup until i decide to water-cool.

Memory I think im sold on the trident Z F4-3400C16Q-64GTZ.

Now,

Heres the flip side. LOL as there always is.....I just received my 10 anniversary ed asus Motherboard which seems like you can take the Intel® LGA 2011-v3 little further with running the intel 6950x and 128gb of ram etc....

I know as always, it depends on its purpose...but wether running a game at top notch or CAD, rendering video graphics, making a video, while running a file, server, playing music etc. The best speeds and performance should always yield the best results against any process....correct?

Samsung B-die chips work equally well on Z-170/Z-270 and X-99 systems

The only way I know how to tell if they are B-die is the first 3 timings are the same

Gskill 3200 mhz 14-14-14, 3600mhz 16-16-16, Corsair Vengence 3600mhz 16-16-16

I have not tried the Corsair kit but the Gskill kits work very well in my systems at XMP and overclock very well

I just OCed 4X8GB (32GB) HyperX 2400 CL12 to 3100 CL15 at 1.38V. The computer got a fresh breath I can tell. I can also see it in Passmark, CPU score from 12400 to 13330, GPU from 15200 to 16500. What is the fastest currently available RAM I could consider on that motherboard?
