    I have the same problem.
When I get to my Notebook and the room is cold, the GPU fan often goes to full speed when the system is idling. When the room has warm temperatures, the GPU fan makes no problems at idle.

    Very annoying problem.

My laptop recently went for 4 or 5 days without doing it, or if it did spin up it would only be for a minute or two then it would stop, so I thought it had fixed itself. Then I played GTA V for a few hours, and later that evening it started doing it badly again, and today it's doing it all the time. Maybe a coincidence or maybe it's related, I didn't play any intensive games in those 4 or 5 days when it was fine.

I noticed mine doing this recently. Bought my GL502 Last year. MIght this be a driver issue? GPU temp at 87C even if on idle. It was only like 50C before even when gaming.

Sounds like a seperate issue, mine doesn't have issues with heat, just the fan sometimes running at max speed even at 40 degrees.

I don't want to speak too soon but I think I might have fixed it..

I undid the screws, removed the backplate, and carefully disconnected then reconnected the fan connector for the GPU fan.

That was 6 days ago and it hasn't done it since...

    My problem is solved

    Hi all!

Sorry for my English, but I had the same problem at my laptop.
Today I saw that at the task manager was a Realtek high definition file and there was a lot of CPU usage. 30-40% Cpu usage only for this program.
That program was the problem at my ROG.
This program was at C:\Users\Your own\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

    I find there 2 Maps.

    1.Flash Player
    2.Realtek

In Realtek Map was these exe file.

I delete Realtek Map and I haven't got the problem more.

do you guys have external monitors hooked up to the laptop?

i know if you have 2 external monitors, the nvidia gpu runs hotter during idle, and you need Nvidia Inspector to lock it in low-power state.

Angry same, cpu fan always at 25,500 RPM!

Same problem here, Any solution to be found?

Its a similiar story - after a failed creators update - the fan went bezerk and would be on "full speed' even on 3% cpu usage and low temps 45*
did anyone had luck fixing this (besides using third party utilites) or got it RMA'D?
    Thanx!

    Same problem here

I'm seeing the exact same issue as Frosti7. Since the creators update initially failed back when, the fans have been running full force on idle. It's making me crazy.
