Simply, it's IRQ numbering. So USB 1314 would ports 13 and 14
USB 1112 would be on ports 11 and 12.Intel i9 10850K@ 5.3GHz

That doesn't look like what the IX Code manual shows, it looks like the header on the far right bottom, power, reset, HDD and power LED connections, so it may be for a technician to use, a diagnostic port maybe?, you have the board, do you have the port layout as in the manual? maybe the port in the same location as the manual, if you do not have the port on the bottom right of the board it may have been placed at that location. It would be nice for one of you to let us know what is going on

The "red" header is for factory programming.

The red marked header is not listed in the manual. Checked the printed manual in the MB box, also the version ONLINE on the asus page, no info about it.
I though first time, that is is a 1394 connector, but I googled it and it should has the same PIN layout, than USB2.0, so seems no info, what can it be.
Asus will maybe create a new ROG front panel and this header is for it as well, or just a system header for manufacturing purposes... Still, it would be nice to mention it in the manual, so do not use or just hide it with a blank black plastic thing.
As I said, I use NZXT USB2.0 internal HUB ( https://www.nzxt.com/products/internal-usb-hub ) to connect more USB2.0 connectors, because I have a Corsiar WaterCooler with a usb2.0, then USB2.0 ports on the case, USB2.0 internal card reader...
I know, It is time to buy a new USB3.1 Gen2 card reader and front panel with some USB-C and USB 3.1 gen2 ports, what connects into the new USB3.1 header on these new boards.. Just none available at the moment on the market... Connector is ready but readers and front panels still under development.Last edited by xherics; 01-21-2017 at 10:34 AM.

Same exact problem here, Maximus IX Code with ROG front base, Corsair AIO.... There's no place to plug in the Corsair Link waterpump USB connection on the motherboard. Looks like I will just have to make a custom USB cable that exits the case and plugs into one of the back ports. Ugly. Either that or re-pin the ROG connector with the Corsair pins, and sacrifice the ROG front base USB connector (be sure to pick the right set otherwise you'll disable the Front Base functionality).

So I'm a little confused, are you sayin that the front base will still work when using the rog-external connector only and just not plugging in the usb part of it but you will lose the one usb connector on the front bases front panel? I'm not sure how this is possible cause the front bases cable is all one piece (the rog ext & usb do not seperate).
I was getting ready to order a maximus ix formula but I need to hook up the rog front base and connect my 2 usb 2.0 on my caselabs case, is this not possible?
I don't think It would even be possible to use an aquacomputer hubby 7 or nzxt internal usb 2.0 hub to gain extra usb connectors? Wth was Asus thinkin we cannot use our asus rog front base with ix series rog motherboards?
Someone mentioned a new version of the front base, is this true, linksASUS Maximus 13 Hero, Intel I9 11900k, EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA & EK BLOCK, G Skill Trident Z RGB 3600 32GB
