My first Asus build

Chapel

After how pleased I was with the GL502VS, I thought I'd get a new build going. Any suggestions before I dig in to this one? I haven't built a ground up rig since 2007. Been using an old Dell T5500 for a LONG time and it's now starting to get a bit long in the tooth 😞

dont buy 2 kits of ram. get the amount you need in ONE kit.
since you picked 2 kits they may not work nice together since they are not tested and made shure to work nice together.

get a tube of TIM ( termal paste ) in case you have to reseat your cpu cooler.
it dont cost mutch but its good to have, and some TIM cleaner.

oh, interesting. They didn't sell a 32GB kit in 4000Mhz though. or a 64. I checked. I would have if they did.

Hi Chapel

You probably won't find a 32GB kit at 4000MHz, at least not yet anyway.

I like your choice in ram in the Trident Z and this is a nice kit.

I did find a 32GB kit at another vendor now after searching. I just had an open order going when I got that and never heard this before. I'll try a matching pair at 16GB to start and see how it performs at 32 later. If not, I have another computer that could take that RAM as an upgrade and then I'll go buy a 32 or 64GB kit of 4000 or higher RAM.

Also, if you have your eyes set on the Hero IX, look into all the variations of it that Asus is releasing. Like the H9 "Apex" or "Code" for example! One might be better suited for you. I waited and bought the H8 Alpha back when the 8's came out and I'm really glad I did!

P. S. Im guessing your color scheme is a bit Kilgrave-inspired? Hehe.

I didn't like the 'armor'. It looks cool, but doesn't seem like a great idea for cooling. The Apex seemed like it was for 'serious overclockers only' and I'm not doing that.

Please show us the ram kit you're looking at. 🙂

I could go with this - https://www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-20-232-296
but they're slower.

you will honestly not notice mutch diffrence going down on the mhz, and hope it will play nice whit your CPU.
