Maximus IX Formula - WiFi drivers problems/cannot use adapter

Hey folks,

I bought a Maximus IX Formula about two weeks ago and so far my motherboard's ethernet port works just fine but wireless does not. I've already installed ALL drivers on the disk and website to no avail. Installing them just lets me use the ethernet port but there is still no wireless.

What makes this extra puzzling is that there are two devices that do not have drivers listed under "Other devices" in the device manager. One is a "Network Controller" and the other is a "PCI Simple Communications Controller". I'm pretty sure the network controller is for the wireless ac adapter that comes with the motherboard. But if it's showing up in the device manager with a question mark, it means that it does not have a driver.

So, how and where do I get this driver? Is there something I missed during installation? I heavily doubt that's it -- I've installed every single driver and utility I possible could have that was contained on the CD. And, yet, after doing so, there is still no wireless adapter visible in the control panel and nothing my computer can use to connect.

Attached is a screenshot of the two uninstalled devices from my device manager.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try the driver from the support page: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-IX-FORMULA/HelpDesk_Download/

Hi, yes, I have tried this and it does not work. The LAN drivers on that page do not install for the wireless AC adapter and installing them does not make any wireless adapters show in the adapter settings page in the control panel.

The problem is something else.

Which driver version are you installing, is it this one? http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/wireless/WIFI_Win81_10_64.zip?_ga=1.259486090.1430217613.14616...

You want the driver listed under "wireless", not "LAN."

Oh hey wow that actually worked! I didn't think to look for drivers in other sections because I am using Windows 7 64-bit, but surely enough, that did the trick!

Thanks so much 😄
