ROG Maximus VII Ranger - Temperature on i7 4790k

Hi Guys!

I have got a (hopefully) quick question:

I own the Asus ROG Maximus VII Ranger combined with a i7 4790k. CPU Cooler is a Thermalright Macho Rev. B and I have got 6 additional Chassis Fans in perfect airflow. The idle temps of my CPU are between 27 - 32 degrees, the load temperatur (BF1 in 64 players map) is around 58 - 64 degrees.

I guess that temperature is normal but would the latest BIOS update change something on this? I have the BIOS Version 2902 pre-installed when I ordered but there is also the version 3003. I have read on "Toms Hardware" that on the VII Hero the temperatures have been influenced by a BIOS update.

Can someone recommend this? What is the specific changelog for the 3003 BIOS?

Whatever you do avoid 3103 as it will randomly shutdown your pc even when you disable the ESD protection. I run 3003 with a CM hyper 212 evo and dual corsair push/pull fans and it works well for me. Your case also plays a part in how well your hsf cools and if you don't have good air exchange temps will remain higher than normal.

Where you get that 3103 version from?

Your temperatures are fine. If your system is stable with your current BIOS, there's no need to update to a newer revision.

Thanks for your feedback. Is there anyway a more detailled changelog then "Improve system stability."?

What does this BIOS update do? I am currently working on undervolting respectively fixing the Vcore for lower temps and power consumption. Will this update improve anything in that case?

I run BIOS version 3003.

I have the corsair h80i v2 and I have switched to manual voltage on the chip.

I had core voltage set to auto and it set 1.23v at 4.4ghz. After doing some research I changed the voltage to manual and I've been running on 1.151v for over a year now.

My startup temps normally around 45c once windows settles down I idle the same as you between 27-30 degrees celcius.

I recently overclocked my chip to 4.6ghz on 1.23v and with ambient temp of 30c I only hit a max temp of 73c after 15 mins of realbench.

I was never able to get adaptive voltage working on my board but I prefer knowing that the voltage doesn't go past what I have set.

I'm going to try dropping the volts down a bit seeing if I can get 1.22v.
