AMD RYZEN from the ashes?

Well, this is exciting...I think?

RYZEN rumors abound and it looks good.

But I've seen all this before...

So, will it or wont it be the kick in the pants the CPU market needs?

Why no Crosshair Formula board?

:confused::rolleyes::(:):D:eek::cool:

Look how nicely AMD broke up top end CPU sales: http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?cPath=4_1210&bsort=0&brand=0&price=2&location=0

Yes there's 4 of them released and top board is ROG Crosshair VI Hero. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-CROSSHAIR-VI-HERO/
Few results coming thru too. 🙂

Sorry Arne probably not the answer you were looking for.? What would a Formula Version offer over the Hero.?

Yeah, looking good!

Formula...? maybe watercooling block ....just don't see the same range offered as for Intel...which is a shame...no extreme version!

Oh man...I was wondering if that was it...that is a real shame...so they've topped out the CPU at stock to catch up...

So extreme boards don't make much sense....

Personally I think the testing has been quite selective from AMD, but this is not unusual at this point. Everything will become apparent shortly - but I think there's enough to go on that both core and memory overclocking is limited compared to Intel parts. All boils down to whether this concerns you or not, the price reflects this

Based on some reports it indicates most 1800X chips will not get past 4GHz base clock so the overclocking headroom is very limited, it's a little bit of a disappointment.

From what I gathered the Ryzen 7 1800X has XFR clock. The idea with XFR is that attaching a custom cooling solution gives the processor further auto-overclocking headroom, and that's intriguing, because AMD has confirmed that all Ryzen processors can be overclocked. 😄

Heh...they all do...that's single thread in a freezer...multi thread only did 4.0....

Fingers crossed for them but if it they have clocked it to the max to break even with current Intel at stock clocks....uffff

Precisely why I am waiting for these post release testers to begin their thorough analysis of the product. Right now all we really have are AMD's sanctioned benchmarks. Like watching CNN to get the "Truth".

Much like you I'm behind AMD. Two manufacturers maintaining parity will be good for technological progress, as well as consumer options and value.
