Precisely why I am waiting for these post release testers to begin their thorough analysis of the product. Right now all we really have are AMD's sanctioned benchmarks. Like watching CNN to get the "Truth".
Much like you I'm behind AMD. Two manufacturers maintaining parity will be good for technological progress, as well as consumer options and value.

well as long as they dont get sponsored to tell the "truth" and tell the real truth im good whit it.
but on start i bet the majority of the big CPU/GPU/MOBO testers are going to promote it big time to click bait and all that to earn monny on it.

@bawz why is there only 1 m.2 slot on the amd boards? is it limitation on the pcie lanes or other things that does it?

LOL..yeah...wait until some real users have them in hand. Totally behind them and hoping for the best...need some competition in this space...
Still looks a good range for the price! but they want to get rid of the "for the price"....
Yeah...this is a problem...much prefer to see what real users who paid for their gear have to say...

It's definitely possible to have 2 x M.2 slots for X370 chipset, so not a limitation with the pcie lanes. To be honest the features are tailored for the target market, my thoughts is that not many people will require 2 x M.2 slots, and you also have to look at the price point of the board, does at the price point make sense to have 2 x M.2 slots?

There's the big difference between Formula and Hero across most of the ASUS lines. At the higher price point, Formula usually includes water blocks for VRMs and, more important to me, hardware and BIOS features better oriented to overclocking. Formula often shares BIOS and many features with Extreme that are left off Hero. Those are the things that have me waiting before I jump into RYZEN overclocking.

I think people will need few weeks to use on AMD as premium option again.
For now we used to see Intel i7 as only high end option.
After 10 years AMD have strongest CPU.
I can feel some E-ATX Extreme X370 motherboard and mATX...
Crosshair VI Formula - Crosshair VI Extreme - Crosshair VI Gene or first AMD Strix motherboard.
When AMD had competitive CPU BIOS was in completely different form, Blue background...

Guys are you ready for biggest improvement for last decade in CPU world.
I'm Intel fan but market can't allow to Intel sabotage now when finally we have serious improvement.
Intel have much better information than anyone from us, and before 12-18 months they could know pretty much about Ryzen and Intel still decide to give people zero improvement with Kaby Lake.
Results are incredible, I saw some of them and 1600X is similar as last year champion i7-5960X, 1700X OC similar as i7-6950X base clock that mean most interesting model 1800X OC is probably few percent stronger or maybe even close to i7-6950X on Turbo. Incredible.
If AMD give some sign to customers about life time of socket and chipset and if they last as usually with AMD than I expect many people to change from Intel to AMD.
And when they change CPU it's much easier and for GPU. I never liked combination AMD CPU and GeForce GPU.
Intel-NVIDIA great, Intel-Radeon nice as well, but AMD CPU only with Radeon GPU.
Power consumption is small and great option for some small case and SFX PSU or some small ATX...
RX 480 could be used only until Vega show up. But 1700X and RX 480 CF is great option as well.
This will be long 7 months until Skylake Xtreme show up. Intel will stay on shelves and AMD will sell their procesors.
Only bad because great Z270 motherboards, but we can't do nothing, Intel decide to stay on one place 5 years.
I can't wait to see more nice motherboards from ASUS ready for 1800X and 1700X for max performance.
mATX is enough and for RX 480 CF and 600W PSU for them and 1800X overclocked. That's same on paper as i7-6950X + GTX1080, only price far cheaper.
When customers finish build and choose some nice memory fastest possible and Install nicely Windows 10... performance will be even better than in reviews.
I just think something i7-6950 cost 1700$
For that money is possible to build RIG with CPU similar performance, not behind and whole computer, only need PSU.
1800X - 500
ROG motherboard - 250
32GB Memory 3200MHz - 220
Samsung 960 PRO 512GB. - 350
RX 480 reference - 200
CPU Cooler 280mm AIO - 120
And that's just for start if someone want whole new RIG, than when Vega show up RX 480 could be sold and PC is ready for 4K.
Damn who could imagine that will have same performance as i7-6950X and better than i7-6900K. I mean same after overclocked 1800X not on default but never mind, that's point, overclock him and reach 1700$ worth model. No better enjoying than that, 500$ overclocked as 1700$ model.
But even 350$ worth 1700X is not far, very close.
We are vitness of historic perfomance jump from FX8350 to R7 1800X.
If AMD continue tradition people will change new processors on same Crosshair 6 up to Q2 2025 probably.
