The main difference between 2_1 and 2_2 is the plastic cover of the MOBO.
There are case fans in the front of my tower, so I can use them if needed.
In 2_1 there will be no point in these fans, because ssd is under the cover.
Corsair support said that 65c is ok (but how will it be under load? 120c?), so may be You're right.
But still, I'll experiment a bit to find a cooler spot.
Have ordered some heatsinks, in 2-3 weeks will try them.
Tomorrow will move the ssd to 2_2, hope there will be some difference.

I would point out that my previous comment about temperatures was referring to my samsung 950 pro ssd. So I don't think you can say that samsung ssds don't have the same temp issues in M.2_1 on the IX Forumula with the plastic cover. I couldn't have the ssd in that location as it was pretty much always throttling due to temps, waste of M.2 speeds.
Without some 3d printed covers or something the slot is pointless.

Here are the results: (!)
After moving to 2_2 the average idle temp chenged to.....
52-54c. No fans, no heasink, just moved to 2_2.
With some load (archiving 3Gb folder) temp rises to 61, but drops fast.
And a little question:
Should I put the tick on "Turn off Windows write-cache...... " ? Google said it will increase write performance of the ssd and for example samsung drivers do this for you.

Wow, 11°C only with changing the Slot?!?
Nice, i will change my slot too later!
Think about to activate PCIex4 in Bios for M2_2 to get full performance!
This "Turn off Windows write-cache..."-Thing -> i tried it one week ago and absolute nothing changed...
BUT: I am using the Samsung NVMe-Driver, not the Windows one! So, test your SSD with CrystalMark, change settings and test again...

Nevertheless,
Now I'm (not much, but) under 60c.
*UPD: after a few hours of web-surfing, youtube watching etc, the temp is aroun 56-59.
So not that much of an improvement, but still a progress.
Waiting for those heatsinks, I have ordered....Last edited by Links; 02-27-2017 at 01:54 PM.

I think the real benefit is, that the SSD will not get so warum under system-load.
When my System is under load (CPU/GPU while gameing), my SSD gets much hotter then on idle...
And i think the real benefits is, that the SSD is not longer at the "hot spot" of the Board (between CPU and GPU)...
All so the frontfan-airflow can reach the ssd and is not blocked by RAM...
So, it is an improvment... i will set my SSD down to 2_2 later... i dont have any problems, but want to have the "best" place for my ssd, so i will change to 2_2...
All so, i dont use SATA5 and 6, so looseing it isnt a problem for me.

Ok, i win about 10°C on M2_2...
Idle:
Temp-Sensor 1: 2_1=31°C / 2_2=29°C
Temp-Sensor 2: 2_1=41°C / 2_2=39°C
Load (GPU&CPU):
Temp-Sensor 1: 2_1=41°C / 2_2=34°C
Temp-Sensor 2: 2_1=61°C / 2_2=51°C
