Can't run some games in maximum resolution

Hi all - I've upgraded my monitor and I'm struggling with running games such as Battlefield 4 in maximum resolution. The monitor supports 3440x1440 but the highest I can select in BF4 is 1920x1080. I'm on Win10 Pro and all my drivers are up to date. Taking BF4 as an example..

I've tried the following;
1) deleting PROFSAVE_profile,
2) using BF4 Settings Editor to manually enter 3440x1440

However this does not work, the game still starts in 1920x1080 and higher resolutions are not listed.

Any help you can give me is appreciated!!

PC spec;
• Windows Professional 10 64Bit
• Intel i7-5820K Haswell-E (3.30GHZ, 15MB L3 CACHE)
• Nvidia GTX 980 4GB Extreme
• MSI X99S SLI Plus Motherboard
• 32GB Crucial (4 x 8GB) 2133Mhz DDR4
• 240GB SATA III Ultrafast SSD
• ASUS ROG SWIFT Curved PG348Q, 34" UWQHD (3440x1440) Gaming monitor, IPS, up to 100Hz, DP, HDMI, USB3.0 , G-SYNC (connected via DisplayPort)

Have you tried reinstalling the game since your monitor upgrade?

If not I would suggest uninstalling all video drivers (dont forget the nvidia audio and other stuff in uninstall a program) and nvidia experience so device manager shows the default windows display driver. Remove BF4. reinstall all drivers and verify your monitor is at the resolution you want and then install bf4. start up the single player campaign from the bf4 site. once your in try changing your options in there if it didn't already pickup the correct resolution.

To add to this. none of what I said makes sense as to why it's not working currently. but usually full re-installing everything works the best.

Also my second suggestion would be to buy battlefield 1. that will probably fix it as well.

You also may want to do a search on how to manually change the resolution in the games xonfiguration file.
