Maximus IX Formula + 7700k OC and temps

Hey. I just bought a Asus Maximus IX Formula with 7700k CPU and 2x16gb G.Skill 3000MHz and H115i Corsair cooler. On load optimized defaults + XMP profile my CPU had 1.3v at 4.5GHz. Sometimes it had even 1.4v so I had to tune some settings. So my bios settings are like this:
    RAM: XMP profile, 3000MHz, 1.35v, timings 14, 14, 14, 34
    CPU: 4.2/4.5 GHz, Adaptive: -, turbo 1.185v, offset 0.100v
    LLC 5
VCCSA and VCCIO on auto with voltages like 1.144/1.160
SpeedStep and all C-States on auto.

With RealBench stress test up to 32GB Ram, vcore is at 1.14v constant with 1.18v max and a max temperature of 57C 62C 58C 56C on all cores.
With Prime95 min/max FFT of 1792, 25000MB RAM, vcore is at 1.2v constant and a max temperature of 66C 67C 69C 64C on all cores.

With CPU at 4.8GHz, Adaptive: +, turbo 1.285v, offset auto I had a voltage of 1.344 with Prime95 and temps over 70-75C. Any thoughts on this guys ? Should I stay with 4.8? What is the max "safe" voltage for 7700k ?

    Hi ycodryn

Max safe voltage is 1.52v, don't let stress testing temps go beyond 90c, max temp for everyday use and gaming is 64c.

In other words, all voltages shown in table 7-2 are based on stock processor frequency only. Overclocking invalidates the voltage recommendations in this table. The voltage guidelines of table 7-2 are based on power, therefore will be invalid when the CPU is overclocked in any way.

Typically, staying below 2X the stock power consumption of the CPU is wise. Never had a CPU degrade when sticking to power levels below that value. That figure can be de-rated further if the CPU is going to be exposed to full-loads for extended periods.

Thank you guys for replies. Is normal for @4.5GHz on Prime95/1792 FFT to have 93/97W power consumption? Should not be 91w max TDP ?

Intel's TDP is based on "application power", not necessarily the loads generated by Prime95.

adaptive mod is not listening to me

I have delidded my cpu. I gained -20C doing this. My problems is that I`m trying to OC to 4.8 but my adaptive mod is not listening to me. I`m using 1.280 additional turbo mode but OCCT shows me vcore 1.31v and vid 1.3v. Same with 1.250 for example. Tried using different level of LLC but still it overvolt over 1.3. What is with this motherboard? I have latest bios on it.

In the bios below the cpu adaptive mode is the offset, try using a negative offset of -0.030v.

This should put the voltage at 1.28v when under load.

thank you for reply. I have tried that but under prime95 cpu or mb is just ignoring my wish ) Strange is that right now I`m using realbench and vcore is staying at 1.25 and rarely goes to 1.30.
edit: I think I will say bye bye to prime95 is too hardcore and testing only with Cinebench, RealBench and OCCT.

    Prime95 is a conversion tool

    CPU+prime95=heater

Doesn't do much for real world scenarios. Try using the ROG realbench.

I set a voltage of 1.280 for 5Ghz HT off. Using RealBench 2.44 my adaptive voltage was not olvervolted. Using RealBench 2.54RC2 I have a vcore of 1.34 and VID 1.35. I pass a 2 hours stress test but my question is why mb is not limiting the max voltage that I`m trying to input?
