Asus GL552VW drivers for Windows7 64-bit - How to collect a complete driver package?

Hi,
Recently I bought an Asus GL552VW laptop. After setting the BIOS properly, I managed to install Windows7 64-bit on it, as that's the only of the "recent" Microsoft operating systems that I really appreaciate, and the last Windows on which Im able to run the software that I use. :cool:
During the Win7 installation process I used only the keyboard, as I've noticed that this model does not support USB in the setup mode of my version of Windows.
My BIOS configuration before installing Windows:
- Launch PXE OpROM policy: Enabled
- Launch CSM: Enabled
- Legacy USB Support: Enabled
- Secure Boot Control: Disabled.

After successfully installing the 64-bit Windows7, I also succeeded in installing these particular Win7 drivers from the original "Win10" DVD attached to the laptop:
1. Audio / Conexant (High Definition Audio sound card with Conexant SmartAudio HD)
2. Cardreader / Realtek (PCiE Card reader)
3. Chipset / Intel (Intel HM170 chipset)
4. MEI / Intel (Management Engine Interface)
5. Rapid Storage / Intel (RST Technology by Intel)
6. ASUS / ATK Package (Keyboard backlight control and function keys support + on-screen display).

Now the most important part - there is quite a considerable group of drivers that I still havent found and pretty much need to get, and these are:
1. WirelessLan / Broadcom, Intel, Qualcomm Atheros, Realtek (Wi-Fi support - i really need this one!)
2. Wireless Display / Intel (WiDi)
3. Serial IO / Intel (All inputs and outputs support - important thing!)
4. LAN / Realtek (Network card, internet - important as hell!)
5. ICEpower / ICEsound AudioWizard (additional Audio functions - could be useful)
6. Graphic / Intel + nVidia (this one is what I truely need!)
7. DPTF / Intel (Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework by Intel)
8. Bluetooth / Broadcom, Intel, Qualcomm Atheros, Realtek (would be cool to have it)
9. ASUS Smart Gesture (would that be a Touchpad driver?)
10. USB drivers and USB Charger (the USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Type-C drivers are now the most important thing to install!)
11. Wireless Radio control driver (not necessary for me).

To me the most important of the missing Windows7 drivers are:
- USB of all types
- Network card (LAN) and Wi-Fi internet
- Graphic cards by Intel and NVIDIA
- Serial I/O for GL552.

I've read all the similar topics, and noticed that people tend to complain about the lack of the touchpad drivers, but nobody really gaves a clue on how to make all other things work, or where to find all other drivers. That's why I'm posting this thread, to get some help, and enable other people to read it and make their Windows7 run on their GL552s.

Any kind of help will me much appreciated! 🙂

Wireless Lan driver depends on what your card is if Intel http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005600.html you could try the driver update utility and hopefully it will install the correct drivers.
WiDi drivers should install with Wireless card drivers.
For Serial IO https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23888/Proc-IO-Intel-Processor-IO-Controller-Driver-for-Win... may be what you need.
LAN driver http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTy... should be the one
ICEpower/ICESound did you try the one on the support page? You may need http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&Down... Definition Audio Codecs Realtek HD Audio driver
Graphics drivers for Intel https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/88345/Intel-HD-Graphics-530 Nvida drivers http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/378.66/378.66-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe
DPTF Intel Update Utility may also download this driver if not you could try http://www.dell.com/support/home/ca/en/cabsdt1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=VX8PR
Bluetooth drivers if Intel should get installed by Intel Update Utility
ASUS Smart Gesture (would that be a Touchpad driver?) If believe it is and hopefully the one from http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Apps_for_Win10/SmartGesture/SmartGesture_Win10_64_VER4017.zip will work
USB drivers https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/65855/Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Controller-Driver if your USB 3 contoller is Intel that is. The best I could find for 3.1 is http://drivers.softpedia.com/downloadTag/Intel%20USB%203.1%20eXtensible%20Host%20Controller%20Driver but install the driver from Intel first and check device manager as it may also add the 3.1 driver also.

If the DPTF, Serial IO and Touchpad drivers don't work than in Device Manager for those device have Right click on them and Select Update Driver software and hopefully M$ has the driver.

Wow, big THANKS for all the suggestions and hyperlinks to most of the needed stuff. I will for sure try these out! Thank you so much. 🙂

However, I will need to gather all of the drivers in a complete set, therefore I'd like to contact some people who have a fully functional Windows7 OS running on an Asus GL552VW (or generally a GL552) with all the Win7 drivers (except the touchpad driver which is unavailable for a Windows7 platform as far as I know).
I hope this thread will help other users who bought this Asus laptop but need to run Windows7 on it and make it functional.

This http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/Touchpad/SmartGesture_Win7_64_Z1032.zip may work for the ASUS Smart Gesture.

I don't think you will find a complete package that you can just run it and it will install all the drivers. If someone has a GL552VW running Windows 7 with all the drivers they could use a program like https://winbeginner.com/backup-drivers-before-formatting-windows/ to back up the drivers than you can just the Restore from previously created backup. There is also https://sourceforge.net/projects/drvback/ but I am not sure if it is compatible with Win 7 but based on the reviews it sounds like it is. The later program is completely free.

I can't seem to get the Touchpad Drivers to work on Win 7. No matter what I tried to install, none of them work. If they install, they do nothing. I'm using a GL752VW. Any ideas? 😞

@U2Desire:
Thanks once again! You are very helpful. Soon I will try all of the drivers that you suggested. Do you own a GL552?
I've heard about some people from this forum who successfully made Windows7 99% functional on a GL552 laptop, as this 1% is the missing touchpad driver for Win7. I'd like some more people to tell me how did they make it all work. Nonetheless, thanks for your input! 🙂

@Fi3t3:
Hi. A GL752VW seems to be a GL552VW's "big brother". It most probably has the same chipset, the same graphics, the same soundcard, etc, and so, could you tell me how did you get all other things to work under Windows7?
As for the touchpad, it seems like there will be no official driver released, however, I've heard rumours about some works on an unofficial one. Seen someone saying someting about that on some Polish forum (as I'm from Poland). If I have some more info, I will for sure post it right here.

I installed all the most necessary stuff using the keyboard. I was shocked to find that I couldn't even have automatic driver installation for some reason. To get connected at all, I used my Android Phone and connected it via USB, using USB Tethering and connecting the phone to my home WiFi, it should install a driver for that and work just fine. At that point I had a connection. I put in a driver CD for my old MadCatz R.A.T. TE mouse, installed the drivers and then voila, running mouse (it wouldn't install on its own).
Next I installed the Intel Driver Utility thingy as well as Nvidia Geforce Experience, it will get most of the stuff out of the way. Also try getting a Windows 7 Update Package, where it auto-installs all updates with one big file. I don't remember which one I used exactly but I may or may not still have it on the Laptop collecting dust.
By now you should have pretty much everything. The WiFi driver should be installed by the Intel Driver Utility and then you can proceed to get the LAN driver from Realtek or something. I used a program called Driver Booster or something. I also suggest you get the ATK package, if I try to avoid using it, my whole keyboard backlight will not turn on at all, I don't know if you have the same issue or anyone else.

Lastly, I got an external program to deal with the annoying fan issue, which is called Notebook FanControl. Developed open source, it's running just fine on Win 7, I suggest you try it and load the "Asus ROG G752VY.xml" config. As far as I can say, only one of the fans in the profile seem to work obviously. It takes a while to adjust the speeds but I've been looking at RPM readings from SpeedFan and Speccy and it seems to sort of work. I created a custom profile which works fine as well, if you want that just let me know.

I hope this helps, if you have any more infos regarding a working touchpad driver, feel free to let me know. :cool:
I wish you a hustle-free driver installation and all hail Win 7.

I was going to buy the GL752VW at around Christmas but missed a sale on it so I held off than Christmas day the GL702VM-DB74 came on sale for $300 off plus 1 yr Office 365, ASUS Gamepad and a free game so I ended up ordering it instead. I may put a Windows 7 partition on it at some point or get a fast USB 3 Thumbdrive and figure out how to make a Windows 7 To Go USB stick.
I should mention you will need to either install Windows 7 from the USB 2 port or a DVD UNLESS you get NTLite and integrate drivers into the boot.wim and install.wim... get the drivers for USB 3.0/3.1 integration here http://www.win-raid.com/t834f25-USB-Drivers-original-and-modded.html
Just found this https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility to integrate the USB 3 drivers into Windows 7 Installation media.
I read that the Touchpad is Elan so hopefully someone can modify the .inf file to add the correct info so that driver will work. Hopefully someone will find a solution since I know I will have the same problem.

I should also mention the Smart Gesture driver wants ATK V1.0.0020 or higher so here is a link for that version http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/ATKPackage/ATKPackage_Win7_64_Z100020.zip

Sadly, this did not help for me. I already had ATK installed, as well as a working version of Smart Gesture, which even shows up in my Process list as running and working. Still, the touchpad could not give a crap and would not respond to anything. Thank you for the suggestion though.

@Fi3t3:
As you can read from my first post, I did the same thing while installing Windows and some of the drivers - I used keyboard only.
Therefore, I really need to get my USB 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 drivers for Win7. I prefer connecting a mouse to a USB 2.0 port in order to have my USB 3.0 ports always available for some other things which require higher connection speed.
I think I will just try to install the USB drivers and LAN/Wi-Fi drivers suggested here by U2Desire, and see what happens. As for Windows 7, I have a full version including Service Pack, but haven't installed this extra-update yet.
Where did you find the drivers for both of the graphic cards (the basic Intel and the main nVidia)?
What's about the ATK, did you read my first post? 😉 It was one of the drivers that I already have properly installed, as I managed to install a few of the drivers directly from the original DVD (it appears that this "Windows10 only" DVD contains some Windows7 drivers).
Yes, I've heard about this Driver Booster software! I thought of using it later on to collect all the drivers.
And what is the fan issue all about? Is it too loud on a GL752?

@U2Desire:
I got my Win7 already installed from a DVD, using only a keyboard. Guess it's impossible to clean-install Win7 from USB on this model. The list of the missing drivers which I mentioned in the first post is what I need, however, thanks to your help I will probably make things work step by step.
