Because I experience the same since day one with BIOS 1201.

    I'm using a Ryzen 5 1600X, 16GB G.Skill Flare X 3200mhz (14-14-14-34) (2x8gb) and of course the Crosshair VI Hero.

RAM is stable at 3200mhz with 14-14-14-34 timings and 1T. Only had to set the tRC myself (profile said 43, board set 78).

It's not a real issue because it boots on second attempt but it's a bit annoying.

Also had to set the ProcOT (the retries with the settings thing) to 2, else it would boot up with the ram sitting at 2400mhz

Hope anyone has an idea what's causing this behavor and how to fix it via a setting in the BIOS.
Yeah I've had the double boot since I got the board. Does what you said twice then boots fine.

RAM NOT WORKING AT RATED SPEED EVEN AFTER 1403 BIOS UPDATE (Gskill F4-3000C14D-16GTZ)

From the beginning i have been struggling with the setup to run my ram at rated speed.
And heard that AGESA 1.0.0.6 will fix any issues with ram.
But unfortunately even after updating to 1403 nothing fixed.

I have tried DOCP standard till DOCP 4 + DRAM boot voltage to 1.35 but it didnt worked.

Also tried manual means no DOCP just ram speed + timing + dram voltage. Still no go.

First booting is not good it resets 1 to 3 times then boots. Sometimes it resets my defined ram settings to stock 2133.

Additionally with 1201 i was able to play Gears of war 4 on 3840x2160 Medium settings. But on 1403 FPS dropping like hell. Even on 1080p.

I dont know what to do. Below are my spec details. Shall I rollback to 1201 or is there any solution?

If there is please help me with the details.

    CPU - 1800x.
    Mobo-Hero vi ( No Wifi ).
Gpu - Nvidia 1070 Amp Extreme.
    Smps - Ax 860i.

    Cabinet - Corsair 760T.
    SSD - Samsung 850 250gb Evo.

    graddumdum:

    Try this. Go into BIOS.

    Go into Advanced mode.

Go to Extreme Tweaker tab. Be sure Dram Frequency is set to 3000. Go down to Dram voltage and manually set it higher than 1.35. I use 1.39 on my FlareX 3200 ram.

Next under Extreme tweaker open up the External Digi+Power Control section and at the very bottom you will see DRAM Vboot voltage. Set it to the same as the DRAM voltage, say 1.39.

Next go back to Extreme Tweaker/ Dram timing control and be sure you manually set the first five entries. On my FlareX 3200 it is 14-14-14-14-34. Check your ram box to see the specs for the 3000 ram. probably 16-16-16-16-38 or something close.

Next go to the Advance tab and open up the last entry, AMD CBS.

Open up the UMC Common options. Then open up the DDR4 Common options. Where you see Fail___CNT change it from 1 to 4. This allows your machine on start up to run 4 times instead of 1 at the higher memory settings to allow all of the faster settings to stay.

See if the recommendations above help.

    Good luck.

RAM NOT WORKING AT RATED SPEED EVEN AFTER 1403 BIOS UPDATE (Gskill F4-3000C14D-16GTZ)

    skline00:
    =======

I have tried with two official BIOS , i am explaining all the settings i have tried below .

My stock ram timings are 14-14-14-14-34. And I have used it constant for all below settings.

Except DOCP which actually automatically taking timings which are also the same as stock.

    1) CROSSHAIR-VI-HERO-ASUS-1201
    ###########################

The max i can achieve is 2666 but with two boot resets.

    Same thing is happening when using combination of Fail___CN = 4 - 6 / Dram Vboot voltage = 1.35 - 1.39 / Dram Voltage = 1.35 - 1.39 .

But Gears of War 4 is running at 4K Medium settings at 60 FPS. So I am happy at least with this.

With DOCP 1 (Optimal) also this I am able to run at 2666 but with 2 boot resets.

    2) CROSSHAIR-VI-HERO-ASUS-1403
    ###########################

The max i can achieve is 3066 but again with two boot resets.

    Same thing is happening when using combination of Fail___CN = 4 - 6 / Dram Vboot voltage = 1.35 - 1.39 / Dram Voltage = 1.35 - 1.39 .

With DOCP 1 (Optimal) also this I am not able to run above 2666 and again with 2 boot resets.

While Gears of War 4 is running at 4K Medium settings at 45-55 FPS.

I am not happy with 1403.

Do I need to replace my RAM with different one ? If yes please suggest which one ?

Do I need to rollback to 1201 and wait for next BIOS update ?

Or is there any workaround ?

I had same problem as you with 1201 and then I moved on to 1401 and then 1403 and now back to 1401.

1403 i get 2 or 3 loop before it boots to 2133 and now i am on 1401 and timing set to 16 16 16 16 39 75 and DRAM set to 1.37 and boot 1.45. I dont have cold boot problem anymore and its ok to run it at 16c for now at 3200. I am able to run at 14c but I am getting errors when I used mem test or PRIME95. so I am sticking to 16c for now till we get a decent bios. .

One request, Please add hardware details to your profile for ease of understanding setup. its easy for us to relate.

I just added the second pair 16 GB DIMMs to my system. System booted as excepted, i hadn't to change anything.

Setting the DRAM Current Capability to 130% totally fixed the system stability and voided the cold start issue for me.
I have no idea if they can damage themselfes by doing so, but if they do, i'd guess they live long enough for cheaper and faster ones to arrive on the market (except if you did any different changes, e.g. setting too high voltages).

    maybe someone can use this

I got some dmesg when starting the virtual machine:
    Code:
    [ 869.184225] AMD-Vi: Event logged [
    [ 869.184229] IO_PAGE_FAULT device=2b:00.3 domain=0x0011 address=0x00000000000ecdf0 flags=0x0000]
Yes, this line is apperently broken there. It's like this in the dmesg output...
