    Hi all,

I've noticed that latest BIOS have increase the power draw of the CPU while overclocked. I remember that with AIDA64's stress test, with 0082 BIOS my 1700x used only 135w @ 4GHz 1,3850 V, now it reach easily 170/180w with same settings. Temps is increased by 9°c. 74°c now versus 65°c before...

just adding 40W is yuge... I did not even try to check this (I also have no idea what the CPU temp is, but the cooler is way too big).

yesterday, I found myself on a system that was totally refusing to be overclocked. fist, I thought that the RAM is overloaded...
the only way to find out is trying I guess (if it's not stable, it just fails - it does not give any clue to why)

having to say that I set -0.0625V on the core to get it under 1.35v (but I maxed the load capabilities here too). I have no reference to what this thing may take.
I'd be happy to see my RAM running at the speed it was sold with - I'm not really interested in Overclocking a system that is fast anyway (:

The system may even crash with default settings. This is not cool. (I have no idea what the defaults do. It seems to just put SPD data to the RAM and so on...)

I guess I should give it some more time to test the stability at various settings. It's rarely crashing when just running linux...

Hopefully I'm going to mess with it soon again - I've been playing on the timmings :P

    Note / Edit:
I think somewhere i the middle of the way my setup broke even more:
What the heck does the BIOS or the bootloader do? As you can see (from my Specs) one graphics card is assigned to vfio-pci (the driver).
One of theese does not only start that GPU anyway before the kernel had a chance to stop it there, it also makes it keeping up with a blank output, even after the vfio driver was loaded for it. This is super bad - the card would be unused anyway (so power down please) and the connected screen automatically switches to that dumb output each time the real one goes down (or even just switches resolution).
This becomes fixed if a virtual PC had been shutting down since the last reboot (i think this is obvious).
Key part what changed could be me, switching from BIOS to UEFI boot mode.

    Stuck with one ram stick

    Hi to all of you,
    My hardware:
    C6 hero bios 1501
Team Nighthawk rgb 16gb 3200 mhz
    Ryzen 5 1600x

Everything was running fine with bios 9920, now with both sticks
Installed it won't go over code 4f.
What could be? What can I do?
    Thanks

can try clear cmos, reflash bios with usb flash back
and maybe try 1 stick at a time, if it was working fine before both stick

    Cold Boot Problem

Can somebody please fix that annoying Cold-Boot-Problem. Have to reboot at Poweroff 5-15 times. Than the board runs perfectly. Its a pity that no bios can manage this Bug including 1501.

I use it to view timings and when doing a screenshot of a bench to log/know what I used. When then share a result I can show my setup/result for someone to replicate/use, etc.

Example of AIDA64 RAM bench screenie, link.

It's an issue with AMD's memory training. Not sure if they will ever fix it. In the meantime, I'd suggest you familiarize yourself with the ProcODT, RZQ, and drive strength settings to see if you can dial out the POST instability.

When i set RAM to 2933MHZ (DOCP standard) every cold boot has one start - little beep - stop - start, and after that my pc boots and go to windows with ram at 2933mhz. I just need to know if this behavior (start - stop - start) can somehow damage my motherboard.
I'm asking because if it do not damage the mobo, it will be good for me. I do not like going deeper in bios settings.
