SMT on or SMT off, Black desert use 4 real cores.

That same game/app maxing out the same four threads on an 8-thread system will show 50% CPU usage.
I ve tested fast and with taskmanager as proof the cpu usage, the game use 4 real cores, doesnt matter its 8/8 or 8/16 cores/threads.
The % usage is almost same, just SMT has a advantage vs SMT off by low %.
This is with SMT off, 25% of 8 threads because there is a graphic bottleneck as u can see it at the taskmanager the gtx 1080 is going max.

This is with SMT on, 21% and again the same settings etc, no player.

So as i thought and said before, the number of cores stay same, it wont use more or less real cores, doesnt matter how many threads share the same core.
The % dont double. I think when i measured the fps before, where it almost went up to the double of %... maybe that happened because other programs.
Thats why i thought when SMT is off, that only 4 cores r used.. but in real it could be some other programs did something in background

I forgot, im now using the bios 3008.

The % per thread is doubled when SMT is off. You can clearly see that in each graph. However, with SMT, it appears the game (or something else) is doing more work, so the overall CPU usage hasn't changed much (though it has dropped and you can see that the usage changes in the small chart are much smaller).

When you have more threads, you have more thread management - which uses more CPU - and many programs also launch more program threads. Otherwise those extra threads would go to waste

This is why you NEVER test CPUs with games. They do not have predictable behavior - and their behavior can change dramatically with every patch... _Plus they rely on external frameworks (DirectX/OpenGL/Vulkan/GPU driver/monitoring tools/shader injectors/etc...) that behave differently with every update to make things even more complicated.

If you have the exact same code running, it absolutely does. You cut the number of threads in half and the resulting percentage doubles.

Four threads with a100% load on a four thread machine will show a 100% usage. Those same four threads, doing the same amount of work, on an eight thread machine will show a 50% CPU usage. Those same four threads on a 16 thread machine will show 25% CPU usage.

Games have to be tested over many runs and averaged. You need frame times. CPU usage doesn't matter at all - if you look, you will just get an idea of how much your CPU is loaded and how the game threads are distributed. As soon as you make a change to your system, that distribution can change.

Pretty sure there are always issues with listing the new updated BIOSes on ASUS website, at around the days it was released.
Seems to take like a day for me to appear under windows 10 64Bit or in the "BIOS & FIRMWARE" category, while win 8.1 already has it.
    Was the same now.

    Nothing unusual xD

does anyone know if the BIOS improved the cold boot issue? Anyone reported any improvement at all in stability or overclocking

3008 is a beta release, but in asus they nothing referes to it. it should be stable release i think. Anyone notice if memory bandwidth improved?

I got my memory to 3200 that never worked before , and CPU at 4.0 with default V 1.3, so yes lots improvements, if you go back 3-5 pages you can read ppl responses to it, realist version same as beta ... same file same data.
