PCI-E Power Cable for GTX 1060 Upgrade

I recently purchased an EVGA GTX 1060 6gb for a G20AJ, I was able to upgrade my cpu, but I'm extremely noobie still.

The 1060 is a single 6 pin card, so should I purchase a 6 pin to 6 pin, or a 6 pin to 8 pin? Would this be viable?

The 1060 says to only use PCI-E.

if the 1060 is a 6pin card, using a 6 pin would work perfectly there is no need to use a 6 to 8 pin, that is for 8 pin cards

the 6pin to 6pin is fine to use and don't worry about not using the other power port

I too am installing a gtx 1060 turbo in my g20aj-nr036s, when going from a gtx 970 that uses both 6 and 8 pin connectors to the 1060 with only the 6 pin- do i have to change any of the pins on the board in order for it to work or is it "just plug and play"?

Kind regards, Joakim
