Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

So I was sitting on my computer just surfing the web and listening to music (surfing the web with firefox) when all of a sudden I get this error message: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. It has only happened one time before. It has never happened when I played any games or anything graphics intensive. Can someone explain/help me through this problem. It's really frustrating. The Asus I have is the G74 (best buy version) Thanks.

If you do choose to update your NVIDIA driver, I recommend booting into Safe Mode, execute the NVIDIA installer, choose "Custom Install" and check the "Clean Install" checkbox. Booting into Safe Mode will eliminate other running drivers that could potentially interfere with your NVIDIA driver upgrade. Choosing "Clean Install" will first remove your current (and possibly corrupt) NVIDIA driver.
