I don't know what it is with core #2 but it's still running the warmest after the delid and here is the temp difference.

    Before delidding

    Core 1 - 67c
    Core 2 - 72c
    Core 3 - 63c
    Core 4 - 69c

    After delidding

    Core 1 - 54c
    Core 2 - 58c
    Core 3 - 54c
    Core 4 - 54c

    A difference of

    Core 1 - 13c lower
    Core 2 - 14c lower
    Core 3 - 9c lower
    Core 4 - 15c lower

I was hoping for a little more but that's not too bad, now to see if it yields me a higher overclock.

Here is For Honor at 5.3GHz, I needed 1.504v to get there and I have not stress tested it. This game doesn't put that much load on the cpu and temps are very good.

I'll try watchdogs 2 next as it's more demanding.

WOW! You got a golden chip there that's even better. Good job Nate, looking forward to see where you find it fully stable with temps. That's definitely a good -15C average improvement you've accomplished per cpu package.

    Hey Good Morning Code Maximus

Yeah I'm happy with 5.3GHz, this looks like it will be it though, to try for 5.4GHz I'd have to go over the max recommended voltage of 1.52v but I stll might try it for a test.

Watchdogs 2 is coming up, it's stable with games so far.

I was thinking I might could get a better temp difference, I ran both tests with 1.31v, I remember Raja saying you should be able to run with less voltage after delidding.

I'll see if I can get a lower voltage for 5.0GHz and we'll compare them again.

Another question has come up. The Maximus IX Code only has one USB 2.0 header. Is there a card or something to add another? I'm using an older case without the 3.0 on the front. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hey StoneCold52 !

Yep the Maximus IX Code has only one usb 2.0 header, it's part of the ROG_EXT header. You have a choice to use it either as a usb 2.0 header or something like the ROG Front Base.

My case is usb 2.0 too, you'll have two usb ports to use if that helps, I use one for my camera.

I was able to to pass the Realbench benchmark at 5.0GHz with 1.285v, I have LLC set to 6 and gives a maximum of 1.296v.

    Before delidding with 1.310v

    Core 1 - 67c
    Core 2 - 72c
    Core 3 - 63c
    Core 4 - 69c

    A difference of:

    Core 1 - 14c lower
    Core 2 - 15c lower
    Core 3 - 12c lower
    Core 4 - 16c lower

    And lowered voltage 0.025v

Dropping to 1.285v shaved off one degree more on cores 1,2, and 4 with core 3 seeing a 3c drop.

That's looking a little better. Maybe it's just something specific with realbench why core 2 to runs the warmest. It's like the cpu has the same characteristics with the temps they're just lower. Core 3 saw the least temp drop but runs the coolest and did before delidding.

Gaming temps however are pretty consistent.
