I have 1080,1070,1060 Strix cards (only ASUS cards I have available at this time), the newer model 1080/1070 that I don't own have faster memory and may help if someone has a new model
The Rookie and Novice users we have on our team could be the biggest plus if they show up
Which platform (s) is best for blck overclocking?

The best submission with different hardware is the second score for the team. Best submission with a third hardware type is the third score. The three scores are averaged for the team stage score. There isn't any limit on the number of entries a user can submit, nor on the number of team members trying in the stages they're eligible for.
Yes that's correct. You can submit as much as you want, but only your best score for each of the stage will be kept. (so only one score per stage will be submitted by you - if you meet the limitation).

That's right! As more people you have to join in, more chance you have to get all the scores you need for each of the stages. After it will be to get higher scores to be the best. Even if some people aren't active in the ROG forum, in this thread, we might have some ASUS Republic of Gamers members joining in.

JustinThyme and anyone else trying to get started:

See AkaNe's tutorials in the overclocking and benchmarking section of the forum

    https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...HWBOT-Tutorial

    https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...WBOT-Tutorials

New members using air or water cooling are classed as Rookie (Novices have 3-12 months experience) and as such are eligible for all the stages of this team contest. I suggest starting with XTU, which is easy to run, doesn't require screenshot or CPU-Z, and is covered in one of the tutorials. Be sure to download the latest version of XTU - follow the links in the Benchmarks tab at HWBOT.

An active overclocking discussion like we're trying to have here is filled with hints and help. Here is one example. Like with all such hints, try it for yourself. I think latest versions of XTU run better in Windows 8.1, second best in windows 10 and third best in windows 7. Windows 10 will work - no need to get lots of operating systems. The real hint applies to windows 8.1 and 10 and applies to XTU ONLY ( I have yet to try it in Realbench). In an administrator-priviledge command console enter:

    bcdedit /set useplatformclock no

    Usually that is set

    bcdedit /set useplatformclock yes

"Yes" has windows using the High Precision Event Timer (HPET) for benchmarking, etc. XTU uses the HPET independently of windows, which causes a conflict. "No" removes windows from the conflict. As I say, try it for yourself comparing "Yes" and "No". For me there was about 10% difference.

Be sure to return to "Yes" before moving on to the other contest stages. Windows has to be using HPET there.

After checking through rule details, here are my plans for attempting stages 3-5.

My second best score ever in GPUPI for CPU is with a 3970X Sandy Bridge. That's what I'll use if it and the R4E still work. That should be nearly unique for a CPU and stay out of the way of people with good X99 CPUs. My 6950X is not the greatest. Likewise the 5820K - the Sandy Bridge actually beat the Haswell.

As said before, all I have for Time Spy is an air-cooled 1060. It's not a high priority for me because loading windows 10 is a pain and there are certainly 1080s and 1070s around.

For reference clock, I have M9A Z270, M8E Z170, M6E Z87, R5E10 X99 and R4E X79. I expect the Z170 and Z270 to be best with reports of around 400MHz ref clock. That would give 2 scores out of three -- the third score has to use a different chipset. Z87 using a high BCLK strap might work well. Don't really know what to expect from X99 or X79. Since many team members have only newer motherboards, I'll try X87, X99 and X79 first, then work on Z270 and Z170 only if that would improve the team score.

    I sub stage 5 last night. timespy 8783 RVE - GTX 1080 - 6950X

Menthol - your the king of 3D you should have no problem beating that. With a combined score we may take top spot in that stage for now.

When a good 1070 score goes up, I'll put the 1060 lower on my to do list.

I have ref clock scores for Z270 and Z170, but not submitted yet.
