Extreme Wall Mounted Z270 – 1080Ti’s in SLI

    Hey Guys,

So I am starting my 3rd build and the second extreme build of the year. In this build I selected the Z270 with a Thermaltake Core P3 case. (Yes the GPUs are limited to 280mms). That’s just enough room to run 2 x 1080 TI in SLI. Build has extreme sound as it will be used for entertainment, live music, DJing & VJing not to mention VR gaming.

    PC COMPONENTS:
    Case: Thermaltake Core P3
    Motherboard: ASUS Maximus IX Code
    RAM: G.Skill RGB 3600mhz 32 GB
    Drive: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB
GPU’s: 1080TI’s (they are not founders edition)
    Sound: 2 x QSC KW181 Subs & 2 x QSC K12’s
    Displays: 3 x 55” LED TV’s & 1 x 46” LED
    Monitor: Acer Predator XB24

I am breaking up the build in 3 videos as it coincides with a basement construction. Should be pretty cool as I will also be adding RGB Lighting to the case and room! Should have it assembled in the next few days.

    Thanks for the Tip Nate152

    Hi MichaelHanson

We can't open your video, copy the URL and in the reply box click "insert video", paste it in there and click ok.

Edit - Thank you that will work, It looks like yours is going to be a nice music machine as well as an awesome gaming machine. I play guitar and bass too.

I see you don't have a cooler listed, be sure to get a decent one. The i7-7700k has good overclocking potential if Intel sends you a good one. Depending on your sample you may can hit 5.2GHz without delidding.

Looking forward to seeing more of yours.

Here is my Maximus IX Code and i7-7700k at 5.0GHz with Mafia III.

    Build Update: GPU's & PSU

    Decisions, decisions and decisions!

Considering it's 4:20am EST and I may of done something crazy! I returned 2 x ROG 1080ti Stix's for 2 other GPUs that are minimalistic (if that is even a word)! LOL Yea! You read that right!! (you are not blind). The problem is the case dimensions and spacing limitations and I did not want to deal with PCIE risers. Therefore, with the radiator clearence and the over sized 1080ti they will not fit (which I already knew before buying them). That and I really don't think the ascetics of modding the case to move the radiator to right would work. In addition I allotted for just the right space on the wall as the case is flanked by 8 wall mounted guitars. I even thought of taking my Titan Xp in SLI from my 6950x build and swaping them with this build for the 1080ti Strix.

In addition since so much lighting is going into the case I decided to simplify the GPU's. I also want almost everything blacked out except for the RGB lighting. That ruled out the EVGA SC2. The EVGA black was a good contender and so was the SC2 Elite in black. Nevertheless, I wanted to use the ROG SLI HB bridge (they look sexy!). So yea you guessed it I went with Asus 1080ti Turbos. (They even lack back plates). They operate at same speeds as the FE cards. But I liked the simple black look with out the over the top logo lighting from EVGA. To solve the black plate issue contacted V1 tech to have them build a custom black plate in black and smoked transparent accents for the ROG logos.

Regardless, my indecisions didn't stop there. I originally intended to use a Corsair AX 860i with the build but ended up switching that out as well to the EVGA Plantnum 1000 watt PSU. Did this for several reasons I liked the dimensions as it left room for some additional components and I calculated my power draw to be 797 watts with out some of the USB peripherals that would be going into this build. So I ended up sending that back as well.

Regardless, I am staring at all the components and will probably time lapse the build this weekend. Really excited about the lighting!

    Anyways had to rant.

    Kind Regards,
    - Mike
