G750JX Bad EDID - solved

Hello,

I had this issue for while now and need help, somehow my display EDID got overwritten or deleted, at first my Laptop display wouldn't turn on but I managed to get it to start by enabling secure boot in BIOS using an external display.

From what I understood from here ( https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/drivers/display/overriding-monitor-edids ) there is a way to fix this with the help of an INF file provided by the manufacturer, can anyone help me solve this issue ?

Thank You !

Can anyone maybe at least help me with pasting the monitor INF file created from their own G750JX model ?

Bump !

Have you read all of these tips:
http://www.tested.com/tech/pcs/457468-troubleshooting-dvi-and-edid-issues/

Also, Will didn't seem to mention it in the link above but since Windows keeps the EDID in the registry it's possible that the hardware is fine but the registry is corrupted. You could try *backing up* the registry key and deleting it to see if Windows can recreate it from hardware.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

Thanks for the help but I still need a copy of the EDID for the monitor on this model, does anyone have the same model or know where to find it ?

Nobody here that owns a G750JX that is willing to dump a file ?

glad you fixed the issue you had 🙂

tell me how to retrieve the information you require and I'll see if I can't spot a G750 over here

You just need this software ( http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm ) select the built in display form the list and after that File -> Create INF , that's the file I need.

fyi. You guys probably know, but since the G750JX can use different brands and models of LCD panels, wondering if the exact same brand and model of LCD panel needs to be used. Anyway, wanted to mention it just in case it makes a difference. Thanks.
