    Will Nvidia Display Driver 381.89 [released 25 April ] Work on ASUS notebook?

    Just noticed that Nvidia Display Driver 381.89 has released yesterday. Is anyone have tried install to the Asus notebook and working well?

    Although someone claimed there are still Win7 notebooks where it (381.89) will not find supported hardware, unlike 378.92, they haven't yet had the time to provide the device ID in question.

    Haven't really run into issues while playing ME: Andromeda and [a generic korean MMO]. Seems to be as good as 378.92.

    I have. Had to reinstall audio driver after to to crackling sound. Have also had a few frame jumps too. Doesn't seem too smooth to me.

    This driver does not install on the G752VS with Win7 SP1 (Couldn't find compatible hardware).

    Hardware ID of the GTX 1070 in that laptop is PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BE1&SUBSYS_13F01043&REV_A1

    I could try to hack the INF files again, like I did with the 376.33 version of the drivers, but as long as the G752VS is not supported officially I doubt that the current brightness control issues are fixed.

    That is very odd indeed. The Win10 driver does list that device [as supported], it would be really strange if they decided to leave this unfixed on Windows 7; after all, the 10 series are still the newest cards NVIDIA has released!



    Sounds like this issue will need to be raised in NVIDIA forums (preferably in the 381.89 feedback thread).


    Actually, could you check if you haven't accidentally downloaded the desktop version? At least the ListDevices.txt does have that device in 381.89-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe

    Yes, it's odd. I downloaded the 381.89-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe and extracted it, then startet the setup.exe.
    And indeed, the .INF files contain my GTX1070 model, so it should work.

    I already mentioned it in the official feedback thread for this driver.

    AFAIK the proper model must be present at the specific OS section. Also maybe it is not the problem with INF but with detecting proper hardware?

    Yes, that was the point we were discussing - it might have been an oversight where the device was added in certain parts of the driver installer but not all where required.

    Especially since the older driver installer does recognize the card flawlessly.

    I am on Win 10 x64 1703 (CU Update) and after using DDU in safemode these drivers installed fine and everything is working perfectly.

    I was able to install the update but many games failed to work for me (like Silent Hunter 3 and 4) so I rolled back to 378.92
