My understanding is that Ryzen Precision Boost and XFR are enabled and disabled via the Core Performance Boost setting.

CPB is PB/XFR.

If you OC as soon as CPU go out of base clock multiplier OC mode kick in and PB/XFR is disabled.

So on a multiplier of:-

i) R7 1700 = 30.25
ii) 1700X = 34.25
iii) 1800X = 36.25

Will = OC mode.

I have a C6H, currently if a memory OC fails training :-

i) AMD CBS pages is reset.
ii) Extreme Tweaker is not reset.
iii) CPU Core Voltage Offset mode.
iv) CPB is [Auto/Enabled] on Extreme Tweaker.

CPU will get excessive voltage.

This is down to how CPU can use PB/XFR (even at boot/in UEFI) as CPB is on and as the CPU Core Voltage Offset did not reset on Extreme Tweaker = ~1.5V to CPU 😮 .

So my advise if you OC DISABLE CPB 😉 .

Do you disable CPB in both places in the UEFI?

Nope.

Only on Extreme Tweaker. The AMD CBS CPB will get reset on a failed boot, so I don't see point in changing it there.

Core performance boost enables or disables XFR(2) and PB(2). The two are linked together. There's no reason for XFR if PB is disabled, and vice versa. So if you disable it, the processor will no longer boost. If you do enable it, the processor will boost again. THEN you have PBO(2) on X processors that can automatically overclock, but will use more power, produce more heat etc.

You want disabled only if u manual OC otherwise leave enable/auto
