My understanding is that EXTREME is basically just that - the "Mount Rushmore" of motherboards - packed full of maximum capabilities and maximum capacities and maximum features, it's got it all, everything you could ever want and more. The best possible motherboard, overall.
And that APEX is basically just that - the peak, the top, the very fastest - but to achieve that record speed it's "streamlined", it simplified, the "unnecessary" complexities stripped down, everything onboard is built for speed or is not onboard, lol. The best possible motherboard, for a specific task (hard overclocking).
I don't understand how ASUS could merge EXTREME + APEX into a single "best of both worlds" hybrid motherboard. You just can't get top APEX-level overclocking on a lesser mobo, lol. You can already get "cut down" mobos (lacking LEDs, OLEDs, etc) on many STRIX and TUF (and even generic-ASUS-non-ROG PRIME) mobos.
"X-factor" stuff - like white PCBs and white carbon-fiber accents - would be cool. Very niche, though. I don't think I'd ever buy one, lol, just not my style, but I'm sure others would."All opinions are not equal. @napster69
It would be like trying to build the ultimate consumer vehicle - with all the power of a Dodge Ram, all the robustness of a Hummer H1, all the speed of a Bugatti Veyron (with nitro), all the sexiness of a Lamborghini Diablo and Jaguar F-Type and classic Corvettes (put together), all the reliability of a Toyota Civic - and all, of course, for the price of a Volkswagon.
Quite a challenge indeed, lol."All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others." - Douglas Adams

i agree with korth, but one thing that I would like to see, is the extreme/code/hero features such as the io cover and other aesthetic features on some of the boards like the prime b350e and f, and the prime x370 boards, but without the maximum, expensive features of the codename models such as maximus or crosshair, call this board, acces, for example, crosshair vi access*

lol hey I know electronic hardware, logic circuits, controllers, and code ... not automotive ... that's what mechanics get paid for.
