How do I select PCIE mode for M.2 NVME SSD's? My motherboard is the Maximus IX Extreme.
I have SSD's in slot M.2_1 and M.2_2. Both are detected by BIOS as being in SATA mode. If I go into BIOS, Advanced, Onboard Devices and attempt to force PCIE mode operation then they are not detected at all.
Motherboard Documentation does not cover this issue.
So I did a bit of research and need some users on the forum to confirm this.
I have these SSD. Crucial MX300 1TB M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive - CT1050MX300SSD4 . Note the notches on the connection interface, there are 2.

So question is. Is M.2 NVME SSD mode (SATA 3 or PCIE) dictated by the BIOS configuration or by the NVME SSD used?
