    Unhappy Unreliable STRIX 1080 Ti Curve Overclocks


    So I've recently purchased the ASUS 1080 Ti Strix and I'm attempting to overclock it using the latest version of ASUS GPU TweakII.
    I've set the GPU Voltage to 100%, Power Target to 120%, GPU Temp Target to 90 C and Memory Clock to 11800 which was my highest stable value for 24/7 usage.

    However, I'm facing an issue with the GPU Clock, where I've setup a custom curve. The GPU Clock does not boost to the values I entered, for its respective Voltage.
    As you can see on the below screenshots, I've set the GPU Clock to hit 2018 MHz between 1000 - 1100 mV.
    But despite my efforts to stress test via FireStrike Ultra or Witcher 3 with everything maxed out, I'm not getting higher than 1949 MHz on the GPU Clock.
    GPU temps have never exceeded 75 C, and are usually between 65-72 C on 99-100% GPU load.

    It's also worth noting that I have the exact same issues using latest beta version of MSI Afterburner (beta for enabled voltage regulation).

    I'm on Nvidia driver version 382.05, and I've also set "Prefer maximum performance" in Nvidia Control Panel.
    Same exact issue on Nvidia driver version 382.19, where I first ran DDU to remove previous driver install. Installed driver as custom clean install.

    List of current HW
    • CPU: Intel i7 5930K @ 4.4GHz 1.275v
      GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 Ti, sitting in topmost PCI x16 slot. No other PCI slots are occupied.
      RAM: 4x 4GB Corsair Plat. DDR4 2800MHz
      MBD: Asus Rampage V Extreme, latest BIOS 3504
      PSU: Seasonic Prime 750w Titanium, and yes both 8pin PCI cables are ofc connected to the GPU
      OS: W10 Pro 1703, Build 15063.296
      Monitor1: Asus VG248QE 144hz 1920x1080
      Monitor2: BenQ XL2410T 120hz 1920x1080

    With the above being said, I also have an issue with around 1/6 cold boots, where my GPU clock will be stuck on around 250 MHz OR 550 MHz, until I do a cold reboot.

    I hope someone could shed some light on what could cause these issues.

    Hi Arkhen, by those images it seems that the card is capping somehow and even tough you set a voltage intervall for which the card should clock above 2 GHz, it just doesn't work.

    Let's try by steps:

    - try to set a maximum clock a bit above the current max which is 1949 MHz, so let's say 1960 MHz with that spoken voltage so 1000 - 1100 mV.

    Just try this and see what you get. Weird enough it seems that the card needs more juice but as nVidia capped the maximum voltage there's no juice to give to the card.

    Raising the frequency higher at the higher voltage points will likely help. It's not as clear as it could be due to how GPU Boost 3.0 works.
