Overclocking failed: Press F1 to enter SETUP?

Some times I get the following error Overclocking failed: Press F1 to enter SETUP. I usually turn it off and on when confronted with this screen and all returns to normal.

My question is if that error screens causes the bios to turn the overclock off behind the scenes?

I have had the same issue with my ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero X370, I don't think it's a fault, the motherboard has determined that you are just overclocking your PC too hard! Just try again!

    Hope that helps.

Yep. Loads of times. When the overclock fails (and it has done 6 times) when I have been overclocking using the motherboard facility! I did not use it manually in the BIOS!

You normally see that message when your system didn't shutdown properly.
