    1800x safe voltages?

    Hey guys/gals,

    I have been running into an issues with my system "crashing" due to a unstable overclock. My system was completely stable for desktop use but only under a certain condition would my system completely crash. My system would crash ONLY when playing Overwatch and streaming with Xsplit on a "medium" compress settings. Funny thing is that it would crash completely only under these conditions... anyways my voltage at the time was 1.375v and from what I recall reading AMD suggest not to go any higher than that. I have been reading a bunch of overclocking sites and some are saying that staying 1.45v or under is babying the chip while others say not to go about 1.4v.

    I have been bumping my voltage up slightly but decided to back of and go with a lower core clock speed of 3.9ghz. For testing I was running Cinebench while streaming at a high bitrate and setting the compression to "slow" (this utilizes a bunch of CPU). I said to myself "if i can get this to complete cinebench while streaming 10 times in a row than I could consider it stable." Anyways, before I stopped decided to stop raising voltage I got up to 1.40v and even though the system was becoming MORE stable I don't want to over do it. Also, at 1.40v my idle temps were around 25*C while load is 50*C. Thank for the help.

    I am at 4 Ghz with 1.436 completely stable with full load temps under prime95 of 80c , try it with offset as I did so it is not always at full voltage

    safe voltage is around the 1.4V for 24/7 (it can be 1.395 or 1.415V also). For benchmarking you cna go higher, up to 1.45V for hard benchmarks or up to 1.5V for benchamrks as SUperpi, PiFast and similar not much stressed tests :-)
    My experinece is not going much more than 75 C at Tctl. Ussually its about 80 C in real. TjMax is 95 or 100 C for Ryzen processor.

    No, thats not ture. Degradation of chip is mainly about high temps with combination with voltage (example 1.5V and +30C load its better than 1.35V and 95C load). I did OC guides for most of AMD CPUs in history with correct with AMD PR....

    Thats correct, its aprox 1.4, depends also at leakage of CPU piece.

    I'm running my 1800x since about a month after launch at 4.1 @1.4375 volts. I've had to upgrade to the Crosshair Hero X370 because my MSI Carbon Pro was a piece of garbage with weak AF VRM's. It couldn't even reach 4.050ghz. I thought I had a dud CPU. Then I found out it was the board. I have been using a Corsair H115i and then when the control board in the pump died I got the new Kraken X62 which is as good as a custom water loop!!

    I have been running 4.1 with no degradation at all the whole time!

    1.45 volts is the safe Max with appropriate cooling.

    I don't even use LLC at all. It's 2019 now and still no dramas.

    I'm also running my ram (Trident Z 4000mhz 16Gb 2x8) at 3533mhz rock solid stable on this board unlike my Carbon Pro with only 3466mhz.

    The board plays a major part in Gen 1 Ryzen.

    And the OC know how to do so 😉.


    Conclusion: 1.4375 is perfectly safe with appropriate cooling. Board type matters, ram compatibility matters. G.Skill Trident Z hands down with Samsung B-die. Tried ripjaws already and no go, 3466 max regardless of boards tested.
