The R6E connectors for USB2.0 are exactly the same as your current RVE10 board (and mine too). You have TWO USB2.0 connectors on both boards, not one. The ROG_EXT header serves as a USB2.0 header on both of these boards, and can be used as such when not using the 18-pin for ROG accessories. This is the way I currently use mine on the RVE10.

If you need additional USB2.0 headers, then you need to use another device or a PCIe board. I currently use and recommend THIS DEVICE to expand your USB2.0 port quantity.

The NZXT is the one I am getting. It should work well. Any concerns connecting a powered USB internal expansion like the NZXT model to the header on the board? Should not cause any issues since it powered, correct (electrical feedback to the motherboard header, etc.)? I assume they will share some type of bandwidth but for most things I would add this should be fine.

Also, and perhaps I am misunderstanding you davemon, but it was my understanding that there is only one physical header (shared with rog_ext) on the RVIE that supports up to two connections. Manual seems to support this as well. Perhaps we are talking the same thing. I would be happy to be incorrect in this instance.

yeah that is my biggest concern is electrical feedback to my $650++ motherboard. Also reading some reviews, some folks have had some smoke up right out of the box on that NZXT one.

Yes I saw that as well. I think they had an older model that had some issues with possible shorts since it was not covered. I actually bought one but may follow-up with NZXT on this since it would be very important to be sure.

I stand corrected. There is only the shared port with ROG_EXT. You would have to connect the port expansion device and forego the ROG accessory.

Plenty of retailers selling the RE6 with delivery dates. Even at the end of the world here in Australia we have delivery date of 11-09-2017 (translated to 09-11-2017 for those in USA).

I have had a preorder in with Provantage since the middle of August. First they said availability would be on 8/23. Then they said 8/28, then they said today 8/30. Didn't get a notification today so I called. They now tell me earliest availability is 9/15. Ridiculous is what that is. Like I said, you won't see this board until mid Sept and beyond. Safe to say it looks like another month for general availability. I wish Asus would have been more transparent with availability. So much for week 33.

Been reading a Tom's Hardware article which states:

"A rumor emerged at Computex that Intel would only support Intel SSDs with the vROC feature, but that is false. You will need to purchase a hardware dongle to enable RAID 5 and RAID 10 features, though."

Like to know if Intel has categorically said that VROC only supports Intel SSD's.

Ok looking into the crystal ball here....

The Apex Video was released on 7/28/17 and was generally available last week. So about 3-4 weeks after the video.

The Rampage VI Extreme video was released on 8/21/17. So if they are timing the PR to the availability we should see something in the next 1-2 weeks. So that would put it between now and the second week of September. There is an uptick in extreme sightings and news (not much). It sounds like Raja went to HQ for some things. I would think that perhaps the launch of the Extreme would be one of them.

EVGA finally let it slip roughly when there boards will ship (Sept-Oct). They had been pretty tight lipped as well.

No amount of conjecture or prediction will change things. It would be nice to have a ballpark idea though so I could plan my time off to build my new system.
