The drivers for WIN7 have been placed in WIN10 page. A mistake probably that has only happened in the last week.

Just had the confirmation that my de-lid tool has been shipped today, just waiting on the Monoblock to complete the build.

It also looks like my MB is going to be replaced due to the Aura Software crash, so once that arrives ill be doing a complete fresh install of Windows but I wont be using the CFU for a while!

It seems like it was all down the the AVX offsets as running -3 on the AVX and -5 on the AVX512 fixed things, so I am very happy I've got to the bottom of that issue.

    Memory

I finally got a tracking number on my Rampage VI Extreme. I am still waiting on the i9-7980XE. I have everything else I need to build this computer. I do mainly AutoCad and Revit. I will use my 1080 Strix card for now and may later upgrade to (2) Ti's.

I would prefer to buy 32 GB or perhaps 64 now and the rest later. I am not ready to drop 2k on 128GB at this time. The G.Skill F4-360016Q is available in 32GB and 64GB, but not 128 per QVL. What is the best way to approach this? My other concern is getting what I need to match what I did not buy in the first go round. I have been reading that anything above say 3200 is of no real benefit. Not sure which way to go at this point. Asus told me via chat that is long as each part number is in the QVL, then that setup is covered.

    Any advice on this one?

    Thanks

Regarding Memory, what ever you decide on buy in now. Mixing kits is not recommended as too many problems arise. Even when they are the exact same part number. Sticks are binned with similar properties and tested as a kit. You will see this mimicked over and over throughout the forum in threads about memory issues when it’s revealed its a mixed kit. You buy half as much as you want now you’ll be burning that entire cost and still spending the full price for what you really want later. Chino did a nice write and comparison as to the effectiveness of the ultra high speed kits. The conclusion? Budget you ram as quantity and not so much the speed. Also keep in mind the Hz is only part of the equation. There are kits with a lower frequency and lower latency that will perform better that those with higher speeds and higher latency.

    Use this to compare

CL/Hz x 1000 = time to commit in milliseconds. Lower is better. *

Thanks for the information. The answer to this subject was too hard extract from the Asus rep via chat. The QVL list made it look like you could buy 128GB kits and use some of them (from the same kit) and be in compliance. I appreciate your straightforward approach and answer. I assumed it was something along those line but have not seen that written specifically anywhere. I think Asus should say on their QVL list that they do not recommend mixing any kits. I plan on building another Computer later and thought I could use that ram for the next one.

So just popped the lid of the CPU and wow what a difference!

I'm very impressed, these are just a simple 5Ghz OC with a XMP profile.
