Hello. I installed my M2 in the DIMM.2 slot. In CPU Storage Configuration I put in the field PCIEX8_4, DIMM.2, and U2 the option DIMM.2 + U2. Is this right?

However, when installing windows, my device does not appear.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you very much.

Now for cooling I simply have an old Swiftech H220x v.1 All in One cooler. It isn't anything special these days and has been quietly cooling my 4970k CPU for 3+ years. I switched over the x99 screws and put it on the 7900x.

I then loaded up windows 10 and some overclocking software to get a general idea about my 7900x. I simply set the voltage to 1.2v and started hitting the multiplier. Windows loaded up on 1.2v at 4.0Ghz, 4.4Ghz, 4.6Ghz, 4.8Ghz and finally crapped out at 4.9Ghz. To me this is a good thing. I was fully expecting not to be able to get into windows around 4.5-4.6 Ghz.

So I started doing Cinebench runs to check quick temps and see when/if windows or the program would freeze up. I would run 10 quick runs in succession, not caring about score. Once again, 4.4Ghz, 4.6 Ghz, 4.8Ghz I was able to run and complete all runs at 1.2v with no throttling. At 4.8Ghz I did hit 96C on one core with a couple others at 92 and 90C. Being that Cinebench is a short benchmark I was okay with the temporary spikes and was very impressed.

I loaded up Aida 64 and started running just the CPU stress test for some 10-15 minute runs. At 4.8Ghz I finally crapped out after about 14 minutes, but my temps were all under 85C ( my own max ). At 4.7Ghz, the 15 minute run was fine, with the highest temperature on one core maxing out at 81C but all averaging in the 70s.

I've read many reviews that suggested not to even try the FPU testing that stresses the AVX with an AIO or aircooling and yeah... even at 4.4Ghz, just starting the FPU test was insta-throttling on 4 cores. In the end 4.7 on 1.2v is pretty nifty and I still have .05v to go to the 1.25v self-imposed limit. As I figured, the issue is going to be temperatures. I'm seeing many people getting a 4.6Ghz clock with a -3 AVX Offset and -5 AVX512 Offset. Bottom line until I get the monoblock up and have it hooked up to two radiators with something more than 2 fans going, there is no reason to run the FPU test.

The real question I have is how much would delidding help here? Seems kinda silly to have a 4.7 or 4.8 OC with an -5 Avx offset and -7 AVX5512. Heh What you think @Dragonpurr? If I decide to go that way I would want to send it off before i build it all into my system....

Just a couple pix. Second pix is the OLED. Wow very small!

    Brighttail,
Did it come with the the latest UEFI bios update in it, or did you have to update it?

Does you device appear in the bios?

I would disable PCIEX8_4 if you aren't using that PCIe slot (it sounds like you are using DIMM.2 not PCIEX8_4)

Are you using U.2 or M.2? If you are using M.2, don't set it to U.2, that is different technology, and might be the reason you can't see the drive

If that doesn't work, try turning off the VROC, and let it run through the chipset... if you aren't trying to make a bootable raid drive, I don't think VROC does anything for you

DIMM.2 may not faster than PCIe RAID card like Hyper x 16.

If you are planing to use VROC for maximum performance use Hyper x 16 PCIe 3.0 card .*

    I updated it to v. 802.

As for the DIMM.2 I only had one M.2 drive that I was able to test it with but it and the third m.2 all were at the same speeds as using a card in a PCI-E lane, so long as I selected to use the DIMM.2 to use the CPU lanes.

In the BIOS there are settings to use VROC or not. With my Samsung 960Pro I could not use VROC. There is also a selection to use the Hyper x16 as non-VROC.

Definitely Rampage VI Extreme with two GTX1080 Poseidon connected in Loop is best looking PC RIG for 2017/2018.
Poseidon look very evil from side, if you ask me cooler than full cover blocks. We used on full cover blocks and Poseidon is this year something completely different.
I think same cooler should serve at least for Volta as well. ASUS graphic cards mostly looked inferior to EVGA cards looking from side, but Poseidon this year beat all models and become one of my favorite model ever with GTX580 Classified. Mars, Matrix, Matrix Gold are not even close to GTX1080Ti Poseidon.
And two of them on Rampage VI Extreme... I could imagine only.. with EKWB Monoblock of course.

Just sent off my CPU to Silicon Lottery for delidding. With a hair more voltage I was able to get 4.9 and 5.0Ghz to boot up. Still under the 1.25v. Cinebench was successful at 4.9 but not 5.0. The temps at 4.9 tho were right at throttling. 4.9 did run on the CPU Aida 64 for a bout 8 minutes before it died, tho temps were in the high 80s, so a little more voltage or other tweaking other than just the Vcore may work.

At this point I think I have all sorts of head room on this CPU and temperature seems to be my issue. I figure if the delidding process can get 10-15C or (maybe 20!!) off the peak temps I might be able to get a helluva overclock.
