I have such desire to touch this board with fingers ... I can't describe.
I look in same time both Extreme and Apex and both are amazing.
They are completely different experience and I have impression no matter what you choose you will wish and other model...
I didn't experience something like that soon, usually I could choose immediately but not now.

ASUS Rampage VI Apex have 2+2 DIMM slots, and 8+8 pin.
That mean she will be great for chasing records of memory and processor.
She can everything as Rampage Extreme on LN2, 100%.

Yes, APEX limitation (but there is the reason) is "only" 4 DIMM slots for RAM. But, who care from OC guys

I know 4 DIMM slots are better for OC, for me are enough 4 DIMM slots, I planned to keep 4x8GB.
Anyway 4x 16GB is better and easier for mobo , than 8x 8GB.
For me is 32GB and most of people no reason to complain because 3200-3600MHz 4x 16GB kits will be expensive.

I'm little sad because other thing... I notice that Crosshair VI Extreme is not only ASUS board with 24pin angled.
They done that on Maximus IX Extreme. Why they didn't done that with Apex or Extreme. At least one.
But I have single sleeve black without heatsink, and look very nice, in my case is not even visible that part with 24 pin.
Single Sleeve is better visible with normal 24pin bit again if I need to choose ASUS board with norma or angled I woulc shoose angled.
Because with some new GPU with power connectors on back side hardware look like you didn't connect him at all, no wires.

My best wish would be to AMD beat NVIDIA with Vega for normal price and to build i9-7900X on Extreme or I would be happy and with Apex and ASUS Vega with AIO.
Because Extreme V served me well maybe I would go on successor rather than Apex, but only because it's premium board and she beat competition even before others launch their models.
Both boards will be available in my country, I know that. I'm sad because most people save cost on motherboards and go on models as ASUS Pro, or ASUS A version, even with nice processors.

But for gamers with single graphic card is not disaster even i7 8 core 28 PCI-E lanes.
Frequency is high and he will cost arround 500.. i7 8 core 28 PCI-E lanes + ASUS Rampage VI Apex I will recommend for most gamers.
Now PCH have 24 PCI-E lanes and could be used for M.2 NVMe, SSD M.2, Sound Card and 28 PCI-E lanes from CPU for single premium GPU as GTX1080Ti or Vega.

I saw that the Extreme would have "RJ45 10 Gigabit" port for ethernet, what's this port ?
    Always an Intel Controller ?

I feel butterflies in stomach when I look video clips of ASUS X299 boards...
I'm glad because ASUS is from Taiwan. China go worldwide and force countries to stop diplomatic relationship with Taiwan.
That mean I will not buy China products any more designed in China and from companies origin from China. I hate repressive politic.

This is what you get out of box with Rampage Extreme, much better than with RGB... that's exactly what I want and I can bet many people.

When EKWB show up with Monoblock, competition will die.
But monoblock will probably cover CPU and VRM.

Past releases the mainstream boards have released sooner than the extreme board, X99 Deluxe was released about a month before X99 Extreme model, we will soon see
Just my guess but I would say that Gskill kit will be compatible, the newer high binned kits will probably be released several months down the road

The Extreme will be announced at $760 (seen on a forum), they are happy at Asus...
Hoping it's just an estimate of the shop and the price is cheaper, if it really is price, many will buy the APEX

I assume that is an inflated pre release price otherwise there will be a very limited audience for the Extreme board, or is that a price in France that doesn't reflect the US price?
Apex is what I am waiting for anyways
