Massive VRM and Chipset temps?!

I had everything default/auto except RAM was clocked up to 3200 Mhz (DRAM V and DRAM Vboot manually to 1.45). AIDA64 showed randomly very high temps for Chipset and VRM. Chipset was sharp 100 C/212 F and VRM 245 C/473 F 😮 Were they really that hot or was it some sort of a software error or such? Any idea why this happens? Or have I forgot to set something important in BIOS?

I guess those were errors... at those temps you should have seen some smoke... - or at least feel it by approaching your fingers (not touching!)...

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I think so too 🙂 I downloaded HWInfo64 to see more correct readings. I guess my OC settings messed up AIDA64 somehow. With the default settings I haven't seen no more such readings.

At those temps, not only would the PC have auto-shutdown due to security measures, but you would have indeed seen smoke and probably heard a bang.

If your PC wasn't radiating heat like a gas heater, then I would definitely say it was a software bug.
